Bill Moyers Eyes a Possible Return to PBS
Source: New York Times

Bill Moyers’ retirement from weekly television last year may not last long. He has received preliminary approval for a major grant to return to PBS with a half-hour show with the working title “Something Different With Bill Moyers.”

The Carnegie Corporation of New York, in an announcement this week on its Web site (the release has since been changed to remove references to Mr. Moyers), said its board had voted to give Mr. Moyers’ production company a $2 million, 29-month grant for the show.

Susan King, the foundation’s vice president of external relations, said the program was conceived as a venue for bipartisan debate of major issues of the day, like education reform and immigration. She cautioned, however, that even though the grant has been approved by the board, it is not yet final.

Mr. Moyers, in an e-mail statement, confirmed that his company has been discussing a potential weekly series, as well as other projects, and said he was pleased that the Carnegie Corporation had offered the first grant. “But,” he added, the announcement “is premature because we are in conversations with other funders which take time to conclude. We have discussed various possibilities with PBS as one potential source of distribution, but have no idea about a possible airdate, if in fact we proceed.”

4. Oh I hope so! FYI I love going through the Bill Moyers' archives on PBS
to watch videos and read transcripts of his programs. So much of the information is still relevant today.

11. Man, what a great show Bill Moyers Journal was.
Did Moyers ever say he was retiring? I thought PBS pulled the plug on Journal.

I sure hope "bi-partisan" is not code or a dog whistle. It rarely augers well nowadays.
