6 U.S. Soldiers Die in Afghanistan
Source: NYTimes

KABUL, Afghanistan — Six American soldiers have been killed in a single operation in eastern Afghanistan over the past two days, a spokesman for the international coalition said on Friday.

“I can confirm that six coalition soldiers have been identified as U.S. soldiers, and were all killed as part of the same operation, but in three separate incidents,” said Maj. Tim James. The deaths took place from late Wednesday through Thursday.

The operation, a helicopter-borne assault into a remote part of Kunar Province close to the Pakistani border, was continuing. The area is frequently used to infiltrate fighters from Pakistan. The purpose of the operation, Major. James said, was to “disrupt insurgent operations.”

1. How sad
that people continue to die for lies and profit for the corporations.
It has nothing to do with the "security" of this country, and everyone
realizes that........but it continues on as though it is normal.

2. Death to the taliban scum.
If Bush hadn't launched an illegal war in Iraq, operations in Afghanistan would be finished.

5. Foreigners have been pacifying Afghanistan since the late 70's.
It hasn't been working. The theory that Afghanistan would now be a paradise of democracy if only Bush hadn't gone off to conquer Iraq is Total Bullshit. Afghanistan has had our full attention since 2009. How many more years until we can see the light at the end of the tunnel?

10. seriously?
"If Bush hadn't launched an illegal war in Iraq, operations in Afghanistan would be finished."
Yes you did not claim a literal paradise, merely that 'operations would be finished'. How so?
And as for your second point, Obama has in fact focused his foreign policy on afghanistan, and continues to do so.

6. US has poured money into the coffers of thugs and warlords since the 80's
Edited on Fri Apr-01-11 08:24 AM by annm4peace
Read Malalai Joya's short and simple book.

A Woman Among Warlords

Her life has been tragically surrounded by the US funding Warlords who have destroyed her Country.

Even today the corrupt and criminal Mujahadens and Taliban's have been in Karzai's cabinet, and Parliament all to the blessings of the US State Dept and Pentagon.

Maybe some of those insurgents want to the US to leave so then they can go after the corrupt Taliban and Warlords and their gangs.

The USAID's money goes to these warlords who have been able to get back into power by becoming the Governors of the Districts and other positions. They terrorize and kill anyone who speaks out for Democracy or Human Rights.

The US funnels money into Afghanistan and it ends up in the hands of these thugs who then terrorize their own people.

This can not stop until the US gets out of Afghanistan completely.

The blood of those troops killed is on the hands of the tax payers who's money has funded these warlords.

American needs to wake up and grow up

9. And now there is this ...
from the BBC this morning:

"At least eight foreign UN workers have been killed in Afghanistan during an attack on a UN compound in the northern city of Mazar-e Sharif, officials say. The violence occurred during a protest over the burning of the Koran in a US church last month.

Several hundred people had been protesting peacefully in Mazar-e Sharif when the scene suddenly turned violent. Protesters shouted "Death to the USA, Death to Israel" after Friday prayers, and went on to attack the compound.

On 20 March, Pastor Wayne Sapp set light to a copy of the Koran at a church in Florida."
