Wisconsin union law likely on hold for 2 months
Source: AP

MADISON, Wis. – Wisconsin's polarizing union rights law is on hold for about two months after a judge said Friday that a restraining order blocking it will stay in place she while considers whether Republicans passed it illegally.

Republicans had been pushing the law through despite a boycott by Democratic state senators and weeks of protests that drew as many as 85,000 people to the state Capitol. But they suffered a defeat Thursday when the same judge declared the law was not enacted last week as Republicans had claimed.

Dane County Circuit Judge Maryann Sumi on Friday extended indefinitely a temporary restraining order preventing the secretary of state from putting the law in effect. She is considering a lawsuit that says Republican lawmakers didn't provide the proper public notice when they convened a special committee to amend the plan before its passage. The state has appealed the order to the Wisconsin Supreme Court, but the court has not indicated whether it will take the case and has no deadline for making a decision.

2. Misfits and bullies
I loved the article in the state journal today that said the Fitzgeralds have only themselves to blame. Those assholes mis-played thair hand from the start and are continuing to make fools of themselves. Whether he wins or loses on this issue Walker's criminal regime has been exposed.

3. Sounds like she does not want to make a decision on the case.
If they Supreme Court takes it, and odds are they will, they will make a decision and she won't have to.

7. I don't think the Supreme Court is in any hurry to get this case
While it probably will end up in the Supreme Court eventually, I suspect it is making the justices very wary. They see what is happening to Prosser and they know the implications this bill has, they could take the case at any time but they have not done so yet which suggests to me they are likely going to wait for it to go through the appeals process. If it takes two months for Sumi to make a decision, then a couple more months for the appeals court to make a decision it could be a while before it makes it to the Supreme Court. Hopefully this is the way it plays out, because we don't want it to reach the Supreme Court until Prosser is off the bench and if the restraining order is in place through that time then we have a good chance of stopping this. If it goes on too long the Republicans will likely bring it up for a vote, but it is possible that we could get a couple Republicans to swing given the circumstances.

5. ... and in 2 months there may be recall elections ...
(approximately) .... which means if/when this thing ever does see the light of day, it will be very short lived.

If Sumi holds on to the case, the Supremes are not likely to take it up until after she makes a decision.

Sumi's holding on to it for two months carries the decision basically to the end of the Supreme Court term.

That means if the Supreme Court does take it up after her decision, it likely won't be heard until after the new court is seated in August.

If we can kick the conservative, chamber-bought, nutcase, activist justice off the Supreme court with our vote on Tuesday, sane, impartial justices will be in the majority on the court and the ruling will at least not rubber-stamp Walker's corrupt and dictatorial tactics.

And that doesn't include the recall elections which will eventually turn the senate and scare the shit out of the rest of the kochroaches.

8. Does anyone know if a law with the same consequences for workers in
Milwaukee Co. that may have been illegally passes will be looked into.... Apparently Scott Walker and his gang practiced on Milwaukee Co. and succeeded. Rachel Maddow talked about some of the outcome that bill had via Wakenhut security guards.... But I'm wonder because the co. board disapproved of the bill, but Walker declared an emergency and pushed the bill through anyways.
