More than 1,000 union members from B.C., Washington State and Oregon rallied at the Peace Arch Saturday to support public service workers in Wisconsin who are fighting to keep their collective bargaining rights.

“In B.C., we may have an election in the next four months and we want to make sure understand we’re not going to give up our rights,” said Darryl Walker, president of the B.C. Government Employees Union. “We’re going to fight back to protect the rights of our members and workers in general. We’re not going to sit still.”

The State of Wisconsin has passed a law taking away most collective bargaining rights from public employees.

But a county court judge passed a retraining order temporarily stopping the law from being implemented.
