US Labor Dept. Wants Maine To Reimburse Gov't For Taking Down Mural Honoring Workers
Source: ASSOCIATED PRESS

WASHINGTON — If the governor of Maine won't display a mural depicting the state's labor history, the U.S. Department of Labor wants a refund of any federal money that paid for it.

A senior Labor Department official says Maine Gov. Paul LePage's decision to remove the art work from state offices does not comply with terms of a federal grant that paid for most of the mural's $60,000 cost. The official spoke on condition of anonymity to freely discuss the matter.

The demand for reimbursement was made Monday in a letter to state officials. The letter was obtained by The Associated Press.

Now it is revealed the mural complaint was from an anonymous fax signed "A Secret Admirier" who said the mural was like North Korean propaganda. Let me suggest one thing to Governor Thick-headed: "CALLER I.D."

I find it incredulous that they are so stupid in the governor's office to act on an "anonymous fax" and also refuse to find out where the fax call originated.

This getting dumber and dumber . . .

16. I think this calls for an investigation
All kidding aside, you have to ask yourself what other actions this governor is taking based on nothing more than anonymous faxes. Imagine the kind of havoc you could wreak if you based your actions on anonymous faxes or unidentified callers or unproven sources. Oh, yeah, that's been done. I believe a certain GWB declared war on Iraq based on the word of non-validated intelligence sources with axes to grind. Good thing a governor can't declare war. I suppose he could declare war on New Hampshire, but would you take a chance on a state whose motto is Live Free or Die.

27. We should start a Secret Admirer fax campaign
and flood his office saying while we secretly admire him, we still think his actions were very Nazi-like. I'm sure that will reverse his decision and the mural will be reinstated immediately. I'm sure.

I better include this: :sarcasm:

26. GOP senators call out LePage in Op-Ed
Eight Republican Senators are criticizing Gov. Paul LePage openly for making demeaning comments about members of the public, and they are urging him to take a more civil tone.

The senators have attached their names to an opinion column that will run in the Morning Sentinel and several other newspapers on Monday.

The column states that the senators feel to compelled to express their "dismay and discomfort" with the tone and with some of LePage's remarks.

Telling people to kiss his but and thumbing his nose to what labor is... He's a confused motherfucker.

He thinks very little of labor, or for that matter, any human being that isn't a fascist. What the hell is wrong with the voting public in these states (mine included)?

Hey, I have an idea... let's see if the states who allowed shits like this in the capital can compete in the number of recall signatures. Ready, set, petition!

Time to get involved, maybe???

I know a lot of us have thought that fed involvement was 'undesirable' in a lot of the state battles as it would take the focus off the local workers, but I think they could at least make some 'off stage' rumbles now and again, don't you??
