Agencies told to begin furlough notifications
By Robert Brodsky

Federal employees can expect to begin receiving furlough notices immediately, according to a memo to agency officials released on Thursday by the Office of Management and Budget.

Agency leadership should tell employees if they will be considered "exempt" and allowed to continue working, or if they will be furloughed if the existing temporary budget law expires at 11:59 p.m. on Friday, the memo from OMB Director Jacob "Jack" Lew said.

Agencies are encouraged to issue furlough notices electronically.

This is the official notice to Agencies to go ahead and tell employees which ones will be furloughed tomorrow, and also gives Agencies the word that in the event they do not hear of the
Congress passing a deal by tomorrow, that they are hereby ordered to begin orderly shutdown.

This is it folks- it's going down.

8. Exactly
They think a bad economy is good politics for them. Big wins in 2012 if they can keep the economy in bad shape and people blame Obama. God I wish people could see these parasites for who they really are.

10. Yeah, thats appears to be their goal..
On a personal note, I work for a company that does work for USAID and we just heard our projects will continue regardless of a shutdown. Apparently this is because we have "forward funding". Not sure how long that "forward funding" goes but at least we can continue our work for the short term.

11. Its kinda a lose lose situation
A shutdown could kill the recovery. Passing the budget the TP wants will kill the recovery. Passing the compromise they have come to may well kill the recovery.

There really isn't a good option on the table anymore. At least there's a chance that a shutdown will reshuffle the deck a bit.

3. Ya know, I think that if the government shuts down...
...it'll never "reopen" again.
At least not in any way that we will recognize.
And that's the whole point, isn't it?
Hopefully, I'm wrong...

7. When it reopens again I think alot of people will be po'd at republicans.
Especially if it lasts for any significant period of time or, if it hits them somewhere between not be able to obtain some government service and in their wallets.

6. Well I'm a Fed, for the last 29 years, and this year is pure B.S.
Back in the 90's the Agencies got their monies on October 1. The sometime is Clinton's 2nd term, They got their monies in JAnuary of the following year. Agencies had to scramble to re-do their budgets to match when they got their monies. It kept being pushed back every year. All because of the GOP

Now this.

12. If something happened during Clinton's term, did he sign it?
If so, was it really "All because of the GOP?"
