Bickering intensifies as stances harden just hours before a government shutdown
Source: Raw Story

WASHINGTON – The two key budget negotiators affirmed that a deal still had not been struck late Friday morning, as the bitter sparring between Senate Democrats and House Republicans escalated less than 14 hours before a shutdown.

"When will the White House, when will Senate Democrats get serious about cutting spending?" said House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) in a brief media address, warning that growing deficits would harm job growth.

The speaker urged the Senate in the meantime to pass the one-week stopgap "troop funding" bill the House approved Thursday -- which President Barack Obama has dismissed as a "distraction" and threatened to veto.

On the Senate floor moments later, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) aggressively tore into Republicans for what he portrayed as their willingness to shut down the government if Title X family planning funds aren't stripped from Planned Parenthood.

19. I remember the come back of the economy in the early 2000s;
The corps built up their cash reserves and only when they could not squeeze any more productivity out of their existing personal did they start the hiring process again. The conservatives yelled that this was a terrible thing because jobs were number one. Ha! It is inherent that big companies are conservative and the politicians follow the money from the big companies via campaign contributions.

Now the jobs picture is picking up, albeit slowly. More jobs have been created per month than what is needed to counteract layoffs and other causes for 6 months. This situation will continue to accelerate. Jobs are out there but the pay sucks. It is still a seller's market. That is a good thing for conservatives and for big business's bottom line. It is a bad thing for the average American and for unions. It will take another few years at this rate for the jobs market to take on the characteristic of the 90s; a buyer's market. I remember all the talk of head hunters and their offer of huge cash incentives for trained personnel. This was made possible because there were more jobs to fill than there were workers. At the top levels, there were so few people that had specialized skills that many people job hopped so they could collect multiple bonuses.

As for congress critters' hitting bottom, I believe the Democratic leaders will shine for how they handle this crisis. I believe the bottom of the barrel will come after we are no longer a Democracy but a Theocracy. That is when I emigrate and those who vote for the Theocracy will have the political system they deserve.

2. Ohhh...NOW they care about the troops
Sure thing assholes. Troop funding bill? Sure thing. They hate the troops unless they are firing those really expensive weapons. They couldn't care less about Veterans Hospitals, the return to life for active duty memebers, etc.

3. Why not executive orders?
Tell the bastards what they want to hear, then sign executive orders to protect everything they want to destroy. If the Dems cave on Planned Parenthood, you can bet the farm that that pig repugs will demand another thing, then another and another. It won't stop, it never does, it never will. And off message for sure, but why the hell do they have an elephant for a mascot? They should have a cockroach.

15. Did you complain when Bush did it?
If you didn't, why start now? Bush signed 290 eo's, Obama 79 so far. Bush wasn't even legally elected.

4. how 'bout "getting serious about cutting" your drinking?
Self-pitying, maudlin alcoholic.

I wish a security officer would hold him on suspicion of drunk and disorderly, administer a BAL test, and release the results.

Isn't there a law against being intoxicated while officiating at a public event or something?

13. They call it "cheetin"...
It's the practice of snorting the orange residue from Cheetos.

Effects are:
  • Total break from reality

  • Complete lack of empathy

  • Halving of IQ

Side effects include a strange orange cast to the skin, frequent, intense crying jags, and an irresistible urge to don ridiculous clothing and play golf.

16. Never heard them called stances before. Usually when a dick hardens,
it's just called a boner.

Orange ones are rare, but not unheard of, and a drippy one is sure sign of disease...
