Man, 77, held in 4 slayings spanning decades
Source: San Francisco Chronicle

(04-12) 13:14 PDT SAN RAFAEL -- A 77-year-old Reno man is being held in Marin County in connection with the killings of four women in Northern California between 1977 and 1994, two of them in the Bay Area, authorities said today.

Joseph Naso was arrested late Monday in South Lake Tahoe after his release from jail in El Dorado County on unrelated charges, said Marin County District Attorney Ed Berberian.

The prosecutor said authorities believe Naso is responsible for the 1977 killing of Roxene Roggasch in Marin County; the 1978 slaying of Carmen Colon in Contra Costa County; and the killings of Pamela Parsons in 1993 and Tracey Tofoya in 1994, both in Yuba County.

1. It's an odd coincidence that the victims first and last name all start with the same letter
... or is it?

5. Really strange . . . . is this the Alphabet Killer from the 70's in NY?
He was never caught. Same letter pattern in his victims' names. And one of his NY victims was, almost unbelievably, another Carmen Colon:

6. Police look for ties to double initial murder in Rochester
State police and other law enforcement authorities are trying to determine whether there is a connection between a 77-year-old Nevada man charged with four murders Monday and the notorious “double initial” killings in Rochester in the early 1970s.
