Taal Volcano residents must move out permanently
Source: Philippine Daily Inquirer

BATANGAS CITY— The chief of the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) has urged the local government here to start drawing up a long-term relocation plan for people living on Taal Volcano as he warned that the entire volcano island could be “obliterated” in case of an eruption.

“Sometimes nature will prevail, the people have to leave so why not invest now in the long term to avoid people’s lives,” Phivolcs Director Renato Solidum told a meeting of the Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council of Batangas on Monday.

Solidum said Taal’s present activity has been observed to be similar to previous eruptions in 1965-1970 and 1976-1977 wherein the entire volcano island was “totally obliterated.”

5. I have to say that if people want to live on a volcano, let them.
You can warn them all you want, but why take away their home?

Scientist have predicted that Yellow Stone Park, an active super volcano, Will blow some time between now and the next 20,000 years but you don't see people being evacuated from North America.

You can tell them that the danger is imminent, but you can't make them leave.
