Bill voiding city (Milwaukee) sick leave approved
Source: Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

Milwaukee's ordinance requiring businesses to provide paid sick leave would be voided under a bill Assembly Republicans sent Gov. Scott Walker on Tuesday.

Walker said he is likely to sign the measure. The city's sick leave ordinance was overwhelmingly approved by voters in 2008 but has never gone into effect because of legal challenges. The Assembly voted 59-35 to ensure it would never be implemented.

"This bill is a slap in the face to the people of the City of Milwaukee," said Rep. Christine Sinicki (D-Milwaukee). "This was not just some fluke referendum. This was a hard-fought campaign. People were well educated on both sides."

But Republicans said the sick leave ordinance would cost Milwaukee business. Changing state law would allow employers to expand and hire more workers, they said.

1. "...would allow employers to expand and hire more workers, they said."
What's stopping them now from hiring more workers?

Oh, right... no demand for the products and services the employers offer.

Well, keeping people home unpaid, or spreading the cold and flu germs through the workplace, is sure to fix that problem.

I never called in sick unless I was spewing uncontrollably out of some bodily orifice because my options were a) lose money, or b) lose vacation time. If I was going to be sick and miserable, I was going to get PAID for being sick and miserable.

2. Republicans:
"I'd like to change state law so I can screw your dog, molest your child, and raid your refrigerator. That will allow businesses to expand and hire more workers."...Jesus wept.

3. Expand and hire more workers?
That deceitful meme, (one of thousands) is getting really tired, isn't it?

They can expand and hire right into my ass!

The obvious agenda is always about making workers into nothing more than resources that exist primarily to be utilized in the most cost-effective way by those who have influence, power and wealth. Treating them like human beings with value and such is counterproductive to our Owner's intent and purpose.

We will only "win the future", (which has become a lottery of instability now) when we have no worker's rights, benefits, sick leave, or benefits and will work for a wage that will compete with other, exploited peoples. Of course, at the end of the game, our capitulation to that agenda will be distributed to us in a fair manner and will include a large percentage of our working population, minus the pit-boss trust-fund kids who crack the whips, intimidate and abuse the workers, and fire those who won't submit in the proper way.

6. The comments on that article are enough to make me want to seek out emigration. Egads, these
people are insane! If they are workers, they have an awful lot of disdain for themselves. If they are business owners, they embody the attitude of the corporate elite (whom they'll most likely never be invited to join) quite well.

Anyone of you who thinks you deserve vacation pay or sick pay are goldbrickers plain and simple. Get a life and some guts and go make something of yourself instead of trying to force hard working company owners to give you these things.

Great job guys, Governor Walker, I know you understand these communist programs must be ended immediately. Those without talent who can't run their own business, don't deserve the fruits of our labors who are the talented!

Sick Pay and Vacation Pay - are you crazy? Shouldn't the employee have to pay the company when they are sick? The company has to pay someone else to do YOUR job becuase you were too 'sick' to come in to work. The company loses money - employees should have to pay. And Vacation pay? Are you kidding me? The boss should PAY you to go on vacation? Shouldn't the worker PAY to company so they can replace them while they are on vacation? Help me, help you, help all of us - Join the Tea Party now!

9. How soon we forget
H1N1 bird flu, swine flu, Typhoid Mary, etc.

The point of many rules and regs are to prevent small problems from spreading into epidemics.

But feel free to cough and sneeze on your asshole boss who denys sick days!

Spread the cheer!

12. The people have spoken.....D'Oh
Republicans don't give s shit what the people want, overwhelmingly or not, they are going to rule however they see fit. They believe they are supposed to rule while Liberals believe leaders should govern and not rule.
