(Canadian) Corporate tax cuts fail to help economy: study
Source: CBC News

With the future of federal corporate tax cuts playing a role in the election campaign, a new study says the planned reductions will not stimulate the economy.

A new report from the labour-oriented Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives, a non-profit research organization, suggests historic trends show businesses' fixed capital spending has declined as a share of GDP and as a share of corporate cash flow since the early 1980s, despite a series of federal and provincial corporate tax cuts.

The study says the combined federal-provincial corporate tax rate has been cut to 29.5 per cent in 2010 from 50 per cent in the early 1980s.

Conservative Leader Stephen Harper's plan to reduce corporate taxes further has become a flashpoint in the federal election campaign. While the Conservatives plan to reduce federal corporate taxes to 15 per cent in 2012 from 16.5 per cent in 2011 and 18 per cent in 2010, while the Liberals and NDP both want to halt those planned cuts.

Health care, Global Warming, Alternative Energy...but the GOP turns them into villains, and the inbreds eat it up.

6. Canada...beware!
Look at what has been happening to our country. Take a lesson from it. Never elect conservatives...not for PM, not for dogcatcher. Beware their lies about taxes and "free markits."

7. Castration fails to increase population growth
Asking your boss to cut your salary in half doesn't decrease your debt.

How many times do we have to learn these lessons before we actually learn these lessons?

10. "Asking your boss to cut your salary in half doesn't decrease your debt."
Exactly.

I don't know how many times I've used that analogy to get my conservative classmates & co-workers to understand our national budget. But it just won't sink in...

13. Harper kept lying and lying
saying that there were no more tax cuts planned.

To use his favorite phrase of the debate... "that is simply not true."

16. It really was unbelievable wasn't it?
I can't remember what channel I was watching, but they had just finished putting up a nice graphic on how the corporate tax rate was planned to decrease over the next couple of years. This was right before the debate. Then I had to listen to Harper say it wasn't true multiple times. Seriously? Whoever else that saw that then watched the debate had to be thinking, wtf?

11. So, less profits being shared means that less people -- as a whole -- benefit?
Next thing you're going to tell me is that spending most of your money on an unnecessary war will hurt the economy yet allow corporations to thrive.

Why do people keep making the same mistakes over and over again and then expect a different result?
