AP Via The GuardianCAIRO (AP) — Egypt's state news agency says prosecutors have filed corruption charges against the former prime minister and two other senior members of the Cabinet that served under ousted President Hosni Mubarak.
The Middle East News Agency reported Sunday that the attorney-general for public funds has charged Ahmed Nazif, ex-Finance Minister Yousef Boutros Ghali and former Interior Minister Habib el-Adly with wasting public money and profiteering.
The three are accused of granting a German businessman a deal to sell license plates in Egypt without a bid. A trial date has not been set.
Their prosecution is the latest in a sweeping campaign to bring officials of Mubarak's toppled regime to justice.
