GOP leaders name Cantor, Kyl to deficit panel |
|
Source: Associated Press
Posted on Tue, Apr. 19, 2011 03:05 PM Cantor, Kyl to deficit panel The Associated Press
The No. 2 Republicans in the House and Senate have been named to a deficit panel led by Vice President Joe Biden that is tasked with developing a bipartisan plan to curb federal budget deficits.
House Majority Leader Eric Cantor of Virginia and Senate Minority Whip Jon Kyl of Arizona join several Democratic stalwarts on the panel, which meets next month. President Barack Obama set up the panel last week.
It's the second such panel for Obama, who largely ignored the bipartisan but politically painful cuts and revenue increases the first panel came up with last year. The new group comes as must-pass legislation to maintain the government's ability to borrow comes to a head. Both Obama and Republicans say spending cuts must be part of that effort.

But now they have to go up against Biden. . . remember - he's leading the panel. And you can tell just by the look in Biden's eye when he IS looking at the 'others' what he thinks of them. I don't think Kyl or CantDO stand a chance of making a single statement without at a minimum a sarcastic smirk spreading across Biden's face.

3. The first panel came up with NOTHING last year they COULD NOT REACH AGREEMENT. |

Both Obama and Republicans can kiss my ass if the spending cuts are not for the MILITARY and are not matched by TAX INCREASES.

Jeffrey Dahmer is dead. They could have put him and Charlie Manson in charge of health care.

12. I don't see the point of Cantor being there just to make score some political points |
|
He'll be Boehner's eyes and ears at this event and will try to use it to get Republicans to attack the panel if there's something he doesn't like.
