ATLANTIC CITY - Casino executives and a group representing more than 20 southern New Jersey trade unions signed an agreement Tuesday that ensures labor peace throughout the construction of the Revel casino project.
Under the pact, Revel will hire construction workers that are recommended by local unions. In return, the unions have agreed they will not strike or stage any work stoppages if there are any disputes with Revel.
The agreement is between Revel Entertainment Group, construction manager Tishman Construction and the South Jersey Building and Construction Trades Council. The council represents 22 labor unions and about 40,000 workers.
"We have agreed that there will be no strikes or stoppages, which is a big thing in the union world," said Will Pauls, the council's president.
