AZCentral.comHOUSTON - President Barack Obama, his wife and their two children will be attending the April 29 launch of the Space Shuttle Endeavour at Kennedy Space Center in Florida, the office of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords confirmed Wednesday.
Giffords, the victim of a Jan. 8 shooting outside of Tucson, is expected to attend the shuttle launch if her doctors approve. Her husband, Mark Kelly, is commander of the mission.
Giffords' staff said that Obama's attendance will mean a lot to Giffords.
"The congresswoman has wanted President Obama to come to a launch for a long time," said C.J. Karamargin, Giffords' director of communications.
