9/11 Responders To Be Warned They Will Be Screened By FBI's Terrorism Watch List (EXCLUSIVE)
Source: Huffington Post

WASHINGTON -- A provision in the new 9/11 health bill may be adding insult to injury for people who fell sick after their service in the aftermath of the 2001 Al Qaeda attacks, The Huffington Post has learned.

The tens of thousands of cops, firefighters, construction workers and others who survived the worst terrorist assault in U.S. history and risked their lives in its wake will soon be informed that their names must be run through the FBI’s terrorism watch list, according to a letter obtained by HuffPost.

Any of the responders who are not compared to the database of suspected terrorists would be barred from getting treatment for the numerous, worsening ailments that the James Zadroga 9/11 Health And Compensation Law was passed to address.

It’s a requirement that was tacked onto the law during the bitter debates over it last year.

2. Are they only going to check the first responder that
need help because of their bravery, or are they also going back to check the first responders who didn't get sick? I'd like to check the background of everyone who voted to put this clause in the 9/11 health bill. It's disgusting.

Were they actively trying to be assclowns when they forced this into the bill? What good reason is there for this?

I guess there's one silver lining to this: it's one more grudge for the public employee unions to hold against the Republicans.

7. Why are Republicans so full of hate?
They have turned the notion of morality, ethics and responsibility upside down.

They are hypocrites who place a cheap value on human life. Their cynicism mocks the decency of anybody who gives a damn about their neighbors and their community.

12. I don't understand this.
From OP link I see they have the same wtf as I do.
As doctors and administrators begin acting on the federal instructions, participants in the 9/11 treatment and monitoring programs will soon be told that their names, places of birth, addresses, government ID numbers and other personal data will be provided to the FBI to ensure they are not terrorists.
(clip)
“Is the idea that a terrorist stayed to help clean up? And then stayed all these years to try and get benefits?” he asked. “In all the things I’ve seen out of Washington, this probably takes the cake.

Some are more understanding.

“Do we want terrorists getting money? No,” said Anthony Flammia, a former NYPD Highway Patrol officer and Sept. 11 responder. “How do you know if there were any terrorists there? Were they there as observers, watching? Probably.”

18. Unconscionable
I so vividly remember riding a bus downtown to Ground Zero in November 2001. Over 2 months later, the pall, the smell, the ash were palpable from 30 blocks away. It was like crossing over an invisible line into a different world. The enormity of the horror sinks in. For this little SOB to be making life more difficult and miserable for first responders is the ultimate scraping the bottom of the barrel.

But I have hope - if John Ensign is leaving the Senate in utter disgrace, this Stearns idiot might be shamed out, too. He definitely needs to hear from us. En masse.

42. Right-wingers can't imagine doing anything altruistic, kind, or heroic.
They assume that everybody else is just as selfish as they are. Therefore, they assume that all the 911 responders were actually terrorists in disguise, just pretending to help.

Since Giuliani himself fits this latter description - an evil-doer hanging around Ground Zero pretending to help while up to no good - they actually have "proof" of their insane theory.

At some point one would hope that the average American citizen would recognize that they are enabling psychopaths to run the country into the ground but so far nothing.

54. I'll tell you EXACTLY why they did this...
Edited on Fri Apr-22-11 02:54 PM by CoffeeCat
...to get us accustomed to this being a part of how the US government disseminates monies or services with ALL entitlement programs.

Because ultimately, they want to do this to people who receive money from social programs--such as
welfare, food stamps, unemployment, Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security.

This is part of how the safety net comes tumbling down, my friends. We're accustomed to innocent, everyday
citizens ending up on the no-fly lists. That same thing will happen to entitlement recipients--and just like
the no-fly list--you will be denied and there will be no recourse.

So, you're right. It doesn't make sense. Why in the hell would our government assume that selfless ambulance drivers
or courageous firefighters would be terrorists who rushed in to save lives at Ground Zero?

OUR GOVERNMENT DOESN'T ASSUME THAT, BECAUSE IT'S RIDICULOUS.

Very soon, it will start happening to other social programs.

You want your unemployment check--ooops, you have to go through anti-terrorist screening first! And if you
have ANY problem whatsoever, our government will be able to say this to you:

"THOSE BRAVE MEN AND WOMEN WHO SAVED LIVES ON 9/11 DIDN'T COMPLAIN ABOUT THIS SCREENING, WHY IN THE
HELL ARE YOU? THOSE COURAGEOUS FIREFIGHTERS AND POLICE OFFICERS WHO PRACTICALLY FOUGHT FOR THIS
COUNTRY TO FIGHT TERRORISM ON 9/11 ARE OK WITH THIS SCREENING---BUT YOU (LOWLY UNEMPLOYED WORKER,
LAZY FOOD STAMP RECIPIENT OR SOCIAL SECURITY HANDOUT RECIPIENT) HAVE THE GALL TO QUESTION THIS?"

Anyone daring to question this will be pinned as a low-life scumbag, pro-terrorist jerk with something
to hide.

This is how they begin dismantling it all. Oh we chuckled that Ted Kennedy was on it, or that an eight-year old was
mistakenly listed as a known terrorist and prevented from going to Disneyland. We're accustomed to everyday US citizens
erroneously being included on terrorist lists.

This is how they will deny entitlements to a certain percentage of US citizens.

28. maybe it's because of the Muslim first responders?
but of course Rep. Stearns couldn't target a specific religious group after the Peter King hearings, so he decided to do a blanket "screw you" to the first responders. As if Congress slacking on the health benefits wasn't dumb enough. (Sources: "Muslim first-responders were also 9-11 victims" (San Antonio Express-News, Sept. 3, 2010); Rep. Keith Ellison's emotional testimony regarding the Muslim firefighter)

Oh, Stearns' middle name is Bundy. Triggering thoughts? His district is also in the north Florida including Ocala and some outskirts of Orlando and Jacksonville.

These people want to know EXACTLY who was there, and then do away with them, and their testimony. Without witnesses to the explosions at the WTC, and the "plane" that hit the Pentagon, they will be able to tell their tale of fiction as the "official account" forever.
This was not put there for any other reason than to track first responders and possible witnesses of the crime of the millenium!

In fact, if anything, the people that have hidden the truth about the WTC attack (whether it was an inside job, willing failure to act on knowledge olf the attack, or just absolute incompetence I of course can't say, but the truth has certainly been hidden), are likely the same ones that invented the "birther" BS.

52. Like Pavlov's Dogs: Dems cower and submit - or sell out
Every time the Repugs put in an odious, in-your-face show-of-dominance clause they are really taking the measure of the Opposition. Like kids in a school yard, dealing with bullying. First you start calling the kid a baby, a momma's boy. Then you steal the lunch money, then a punch to the gut --- then? It can go anywhere, can't it?

These collected names provide no value to security. There are Arrogance Acts that demonstrate the complete and total submissiveness of elected Democrats to Republican overlords. Worse, it clearly signals to firefighters and other public servants that they can expect no accomodation or support in DC. In either party. And they can kiss unions goodbye while they're at it.

All of us here in people-land get it: Bullies need to be confronted. Fast, early and strategies must be developed to deal with them. That's OUR job, them that we voted for just ain't up to the job.

59. Those who cover-up the 911 crime are very afraid!
They're afraid of the stories of the responders reaching critical mass. They're afraid they're going to get caught in their criminal acts. Silence the victims, intimidate the victims, eliminate the victims this is how criminals deal with their witnesses.

63. Peace activists end up on the terrorist watch list
I think that's the "real" purpose of this law - it's another right they can now deny you by putting you on a bad guys list.
