The FBI released three additional photographs Friday of the man they now call a "possible suspect" in the planting of two bombs in the Southwest Plaza mall in Jefferson County.

The man, also caught on the mall's video surveillance, is wanted for questioning in the incident, according to a news release from the FBI Denver Joint Terrorism Task Force.

Previously, authorities called the man a "person of interest," but the investigation — a joint effort between the FBI, the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives — established the man as a possible suspect Friday.

The mall was evacuated shortly before noon Wednesday after a small fire was discovered in a service hallway. Investigators found a pipe bomb and a device rigged to two small propane tanks. Neither of the devices ignited.

I realize that speculation on things like the perpetrator's motivation & ideology are premature.

2. Oh, it's allowable alright
I didn't mean to imply that speculation was out-of-bounds altogether, but it's too early at this stage to announce unequivocally, 'he's a teabagger!' or 'he's a white supremacist!'...although if I were a betting man...

6. shouldn't
there be pictures of him wheeling the propane tanks into the mall? The authorities said in the beginning the there was a Target at this mall and the tanks could have been purchased there. Is there film of that? Could it be that there is a second person involved?

7. Ah - old white guy -
"While the FBI announced that its Joint Terrorism Task Force is investigating the case, authorities privately were downplaying the idea of domestic terrorism to elected officials and other law enforcement.
They said the explosive device was small and poorly constructed — likely not the work of a person with bomb-building expertise."

See - when it is old white guys (no relation) it ain't terrorism 'cause the bombs were stupid. But when it is a young paki dumb-bomber in times square, or a mulsin thong-bomber, or a really weird looking shoe bomber, or a bunch of idiots in miami conned by an fbi informer to apparently walk to chicago to blow up large buildings with, well perhaps their thoughts as they had nothing else... that is some domestic terrorism.

8. I think they must have the right guy. If I were innocent and my pic was
being flashed all over the media I would call them and tell them it was not me. The guy in the photo has not.

10. You are reading your own thoughts into what I said. Never suggested
that there be no trial. Just that it seems damning that the person in the photo does not come forward. Nothing else.

14. Unless he doesn't watch tv or get a newspaper.
I live in Denver and while I heard about the attempted bombing, this is the first I've heard about there being photos of a suspect. If I wasn't an internet/DU junkie, I still wouldn't know. Elderly people are also more likely to live isolated lives, apart from regular contact with friends or family.

That being said, he was riding a bus "north on Wadsworth Avenue." 10-15 miles up the road that area starts becoming Teabag Central pretty quick. Don't know what that has to do with blowing up a mall, though. What kind of political statement is that?

15. Yeah really - all kinds of people use the mall - even Tbaggers. But
you know all terrorist are not out to make a statement - some just want the spotlight and others are just finding some way to express that they are angry. Who knows - maybe it will come out if they catch the person who did it. Hopefully.

11. If that's the guy, all bets are on him being a conservative talk show junky,
a registered republican who calls himself an independent who believes in small government and free markets, and was collecting ammunition to fight off muzlum terrists (and libruls). But he got tired of waiting for his fantasy to come true and decided to stir the pot himself.

Just speculating. I could be way off. Probably dozens of reasons some old white guy would want to blow up a bomb in a mall. Just can't think of any that come so quickly to mind as him being a right-wing crazy.

Glad he failed and hope he's caught before he tries again.
