Former Miss Colombia to be interrogated in corruption case
Tuesday, 26 April 2011 18:41
Adriaan Alsema

Miss Colombia 2005, Valerie Dominguez, will have to appear before anti-corruption prosecutors to respond to allegations she illegally received government subsidies, the country's Prosecutor General's Office announced Tuesday.

The former beauty queen, television host, model and actress is one of several prominent Colombians under investigation for receiving money from the Agro Ingreso Seguro fund and is expected to appear for interrogation on Wednesday.

After news broke in 2009 that the subsidy -- meant for poor farmers -- ended up in the hands of wealthy and politically powerful families, Dominguez returned the money to the state.

Several former government officials, including former Agricultural Ministers Andres Felipe Arias and Andres Fernandez are being investigated for allegedly granting the subsidies to rally political support.

1. Just like here in the US.
Farm subsidies go to multi-millionaires. A congressman from TN got $3 million in farm subsidies for his multi-million dollar farm.

Don't tell me the US is not a world class Banana Republic.
