4. Patraeus a nominee? Maybe there is some hope there. To jail, I say. |

Is Manetta a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. It would explain plenty.

19. You're not even close. Panetta has not held any appointed DoD |

positions and Petraeus has never had an intelligence assignment CIA is an independent agency and isn't in the DoD like 80% of the national Intelligence community.
Although I believe Petraeus will do OK, he's an intelligence consumer not a producer - perhaps Obama might like to appoint an auto mechanic as Surgeon General and a cook as Attorney General]
There is an interesting aspect to this - with Dave Petraeus at CIA and Keith Alexander running NSA (both 4-star/full generals), the West Point Class of 1974 will be running the vast majority of US national intelligence.

as far as Petraeus is concerned if previous DU posting are correct. One with political aspirations that will come back to plague the nation too. This is worse than Clinton using Powell. And our "success" in the two wars qualifies Petraeus for intelligence oversight? His nose to the despicable agenda and propaganda seems the most formative of his motivations. Make the work of other work for himself in looking good and sounding good as some sort of lesser MacArthur.
Whatever his virtues this seems to display some of the weakness of the President in military matters and managing the horrific agendas of his predecessors.

20. Oh, come on...making an infantryman Director of Central Intelligence? |
|
David Petraeus has never worked in the intelligence field. He might be the greatest consumer who ever lived, but there's a drastic difference between producing and consuming intel.
The president would be better served in the role of CIA director by whoever is the C-2 (combined forces--more than one nation's military) officer at either US Army Europe in Germany or 8th Imperial Army in Korea.
