Dems to Obama: No to GOP on Medicare
Source: The Hill

Fifty Senate Democrats on Thursday sent President Obama a letter commending him for his opposition to Republicans' Medicare overhaul and urging him to stay the course as both parties negotiate an increase in the debt ceiling.

"The Republican budget proposal would not keep pace with the rate of inflation for health care, meaning seniors would pay ever higher out-of-pocket costs," the letter reads. "Under the proposal, the annual increase for the vouchers will fall short of the actual rate of inflation for health care — meaning out-of-pocket expenses for seniors will continue to soar. And to make matters worse, the Republican budget would repeal the only credible means of restraining health care costs — the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.

"While deficit reduction is essential, balancing the budget by dismantling Medicare is both unfair to hard-working Americans and counterproductive."

The letter was spearheaded by Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio).

1. Finally, some spine....
...there's a lot of Dems in Washington who need to be primaried by a further-left challenger.

3. There's a lot of Dems in Washington who could never be reelected in their district or state
if they were further left, a reality that is often overlooked here

6. I disagree....
...I believe there are some issues on which they could move futher left and it would pick up votes from the currently disenfranchised/disenchanted non-voting demographic - more than enough to offset any "moderates" who would take their support elsewhere.

...Medicare for All

...Election funding transparency / limited to People only

...Increased minimum wage

But I'm no Nostradamus.

2. Too bad they didn't stand up when
the Repubs gutted environmental agencies/projects/Endangered Species Act and Obama said Okay.

4. Aren't these the same people who said "no" to tax cuts for the rich?

Just wait until they've got the Democrats over a barrel.
