Bush Gets Physical Ahead of Texas Holiday
An avid fitness buff, President Bush was having his annual medical checkup Saturday before beginning a monthlong vacation at his Texas ranch.

The physical at the Bethesda Naval Hospital in suburban Maryland was the third of his presidency. "Good morning everybody," the president told reporters after arriving at the facility by helicopter. Bush was pronounced extremely fit in his last two annual exams.

Bush, 57, was nearly fully recovered from a muscle tear in his right calf in April that forced him to give up his seven-minute-mile runs for several months, aides said. Bush also has complained about aching knees that he attributes to age.

Presiding over the medical exam were White House physician Richard Tubb and Dr. Kenneth Cooper, the president of the Cooper Aerobics Center. They also directed Bush's two previous two presidential physicals.

even more Shrub

3. i could be in top shape too
if i could sleep as late as I wanted. take time off in the middle of my workday for a 2-3 hour workout/nap, and only work 4 days a week and spend 3 day weekends at camp david every week. But no, I have to get up at 5:00 in the morning, get ready to be at work by 7:00. I share my office with someone so no privacy and my one hour lunch is not sufficient to allow me to go somewhere, dress out, exercise for any reasonable amount of time, and get back to work on time. I get a lousy 13 days of holiday for the year and no 3 day weekends. I get home about 5:00 and take care of 2 grandsons for their working parents until about 7:00 everynight. by then I'm pretty much exhaused.

7. Complaining of Old Age again?
Just like he did this week at his Rose Garden "press event."

My suggestiong: Reserve a rocker now at Shady Acres. The world will be better off for your decision.

He wants us Murkans to feel his pain. If he's that bad off, maybe he should bow out of the 2004 campaign.

10. This just shows the sheer emptiness of Hollow Bush.
This public preening and juvenile insistence on trumpeting his supposed physical prowess to ridiculous excess shows the banality of the man. It is an evident attempt by an insecure bully to overcome his glaring deficiencies in intellect and the capacity for compassion by a callow attempt at teenage machismo, i.e."look how big my muscles are, ain't I cool." Also this brazen public orgy of self indulgence is an affront to the 40 million uninsured Americans who wish they had the same option for such a thorough yearly physical and screening tests that could possibly save their lives.

13. Stephen Hawkins is a constant reminder that "mental ability" is more
important than "physical ability".

AWOL may be "physically fit" enough to run away from a fight but he's not "mentally fit" enough to avoid the fight in the first place.

Bush lies and innocents die.

15. "Aching Knees"????
Edited on Sat Aug-02-03 12:17 PM by BiggJawn
I'd have sore knees too if I spent as much time on them sucking-off big-buck corporate campaign contributors as Chimpy does...Sure is taking a LONG time for that Segway injury to heal, isn't it? You suppose he's a diabetic? It happens to alcoholics...

He ain't Gellin'.....

Hey, Pretzeldent Dumbass! You ever stop to think maybe that much-fabled "7 minute mile" of yours might have something to do with your knees crappinfg out? That and the fact you don't wear kneepads when you meet with your "Pioneers"?

Wish I got a 30-day paid vacation...

17. I hate to say it but this is one attribute of * that I can stand
Sure, unlike most of us, he's got the time to exercise. But he does have to get off his butt and do it. He does set a good example for the coach potatoes.

I make exercise a priority for me (3 days a week jog, swim and/or weights) because it makes the rest of life more enjoyable: work, sleep, sex, I can drink more beer, etc.

I think Bush takes his regiment, however, a little too far and in his case it may an addiction to replace alcohol.
