Deadly Landslide Hits Malaysian Orphanage

A landslide caused by heavy rains has hit an orphanage in Malaysia, killing eight children and leaving six other youngsters missing, buried under mud and rubble.

The victims included two brothers aged eight and 14 whose parents worked there, according to reports.

Two caretakers were killed and there were nine survivors, most of them children, who were taken to hospital after being rescued.

The incident took place at around 2.30pm local time at the Children's Hidayah Madrasah al Taqwa orphanage in Hulu Langat, just south of the capital Kuala Lumpur.
