long island pressThe former Rutgers student accused of broadcasting his roommate’s homosexual encounters on the internet pleaded not guilty Monday to the 15 charges he is faced with.
On Sept. 22, 18-year-old Clementi took his life. Ravi is said to have then deleted Twitter and text messages to try and cover up the alleged spying.
If Ravi is found guilty of bias intimidation, the most serious of the charges, he could face up to 10 years in prison. In ordered to be found guilty of this the prosecution would have to prove that Clementi believed he was being targeted based on his sexual orientation.
Ravi’s friend Molly Wei, who is also charged with invasion of privacy, accepted into a pretrial intervention program earlier this month. Wei’s charges will be dropped in three years if she meets a series of conditions, which includes cooperating with investigators as a witness.
