Two bank failures bring year's total to 47

SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Two banks in Georgia and Florida were closed by regulators on Friday, according to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp., bringing the total number of U.S. bank failures this year to 47. Jackson, Ga.-based McIntosh State Bank, which had $324.4 million in deposits as of March 31, was closed, as was Tampa, Fla.-based First Commercial Bank of Tampa Bay, which had $92.6 million in deposits. The combined bank failures will cost the federal deposit-insurance fund $108.5 million, the FDIC said.
