Romney, Bachmann lead in 2012 Iowa caucus poll
Source: Huffington Post

DES MOINES, Iowa — A new Iowa Poll shows national Republican presidential frontrunner Mitt Romney and tea party favorite Michele Bachmann leading among the state's likely GOP caucus-goers.

The poll conducted for The Des Moines Register shows Romney, the former Massachusetts governor, with support from 23 percent in Iowa. Bachmann is right on his heels. The Minnesota representative who plans to launch her campaign in Iowa on Monday has support from 22 percent.

Romney was the No. 2 finisher in the caucuses in his bid for the 2008 GOP nomination. Bachmann is a three-term congresswoman and newer face in the 2012 White House mix.

The results are based on telephone interviews with 400 likely Republican Iowa caucus-goers from June 19 to 22. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.9 percentage points.

I don't consider these polls to be very meaningful, in all honesty: The caucus is still several months away.

All the babble about Iowa anymore...it's a joke. And I pay little attention to the state and this side show ( Thug or Dem).

7. Go Bachmann! Sadly, the GOP machine will never let her get the nomination.
I still predict that Big Oil will spend a few billion on Gov. Rick Perry of Texas. Because Mitt Romney is not in Big Oil's pocket, not the way that the Texas governor is. Romney might decide to do something for the benefit of some other US business, like housing or transportation or retail. Big Oil wants someone who will screw all the other economic sectors in order to line Big Oils' pockets.

13. Agree. The Republican Oligarchs will not let her be the nominee
for the same reasons as Palin. Both are too idiotic (and in the case of Bachmann bat-shit crazy) to (probably) win the general.

The Oligarchs are reaping what they hath sown by empowering the bat-shit crazy element of their base. Kinda like 80's era Jihadi's the CIA empowered to fight the Soviets and who have been a thorn in their side ever since.

16. They had to interview something like 1800 Repubs and Indeps to find those 400
planning to go to the caucus

I reckon that means about 2.5% of Iowans are crazy enough to support Bachmann

Why wasn't Bat Boy in the poll?
