Blacks' economic gains wiped out in downturn

Millions of Americans endured similar financial calamities in the recession. But for Goldring and many others in the black community, where unemployment is still rising, job loss has knocked them out of the middle class and back into poverty. Some even see a historic reversal of hard-won economic gains that took black people decades to achieve.

Goldring remembers her mother taping the blinds to the wall so no one could see them stealing electricity. She remembers each time she sat on the curb with her three brothers, surrounded by her family's belongings, waiting for a new place to live. Sitting on those curbs, she promised to always pay her bills on time.

Now, after finding herself poor again, "the only word I can say is devastated," says Goldring, 58.

Meanwhile Repukes absolutely want these Folks along with the Old and disabled to bear the most sacrifices for what this Government has done with all the Cash..
They have very little if anything left just to survive..
Still standing on no Tax heights for the very Rich and largest Corporations..
No Jobs creation is because these Corporation invest in other Countries that allow exploitation of the Work force...
We the People are no longer paying Constituents... The Corporations are thanks to the Supreme Court ruling..

And just like any Corporation.. It does not care about people... Its the Cash Profits and what ever it takes to get it...
Have you noticed that not one of any of the two Parties has made a stand to end the Wars...
Or how about States trying to take care of themselves only to have the Federal Government squelching the efforts on every aspect and issue..
Things Politically have swung so far right that their are no real Conservative anymore at all..
Both Parties are now Corporate Reps..
The American People are now something to overcome by this Government instead of representing them..

And someone on the panel mentioned that most middle-class blacks are just 1 or 2 missed payments away from disaster.

Miss payments and it starts to effect your interest rates on loans and mortgages, making it even more difficult to meet those obligations. The downward spiral can become a crash dive very quickly.
