President Obama: House Republicans wasted 'precious days' with Boehner plan
Source: The Hill

President Obama used his his weekly address to call out House Republicans for holding up the process of getting "our fiscal house in order."

"Republicans in the House of Representatives just spent precious days trying to pass a plan that a majority of Republicans and Democrats in the Senate had already said they wouldn’t vote for," Obama said in the Saturday morning message.

(snip)
"I have to say, Democrats in Congress and some Senate Republicans have been listening and have shown themselves willing to make compromises to solve this crisis," Obama said.

"Now all of us – including Republicans in the House of Representatives – need to demonstrate the same kind of responsibility that the American people show every day," Obama added. "The time for putting party first is over. The time for compromise on behalf of the American people is now."

3. Obama knew all along that Repugs were unreasonable.
I worked the phone banks for days for Obama donated money. I would like to see Democrats reach across the aisle and knock Republican teeth down their throat.

As for Obama I have little choice but to vote for him as a protest vote against Republicans. So called "bipartisan or post partisan", "one America" rhetoric is nothing but appeasement, it took me some time to figure that out.

9. Why say Republicans are wasting time when you are wasting yourself in negotiating with unreasoning.
After you have alienated your base with what amounts to appeasement giving away a position of strength then complain about the obvious that Republicans are wasting time. I intend to never again waste my time beyond casting a vote for the lesser of two bad choices. A little information and candor would have avoided the sense of despair.

6. As long as Obama keeps talking about compromise
The GOP will never cooperate. Why would they settle when Obama is saying he's willing to offer more?

7. Maybe that's what this is really all about ?
After all, the wealthy few who own and call the shots in this country want interest rates to rise ?
Who makes out on the up side when that happens ?
Then, when they are taking more of our wages, they'll figure out what has to be done and
we'll have had a tax increase with cuts in entitlements ?

10. Deliberate stonewall
The Repukes will not give in..
This is a tactic to ruin Obama and any legacy he may create by design...
And that 6 month extension too was to create this very same stonewall debate all the way through the next Presidential Election....
Hoping for the Ultimate defeat of Obama...
This is the Party of No for Ya....

12. They just want Dems to give more and more every six months with no tax increases
without tax revenue in the mix. That is why McConnell is stalling, creating uncertainty to tank the economy every six months. Who will hire or build in this economic atmosphere, with threat of default. Would be interesting to see what would happen if Gop won presidency in 2012 and debt ceiling comes up again in 2013 as president Bachman, who is Against raising debt ceiling, is sworn in.

WHAT will she withhold first, Soc or Medicare?:dilemma: :dilemma:

13. And sadly - just who will stand up to them?
When I think of people speaking Truth to Power, the first name that comes to my mind is that of Sen Bernie Sanders.

And he gave up on the Democratic Party the day he became an independent.

And now we see the many good reasons he must have had when making that decision.

14. Dear Mr. Obama
Just STFU.
Nobody is listening to you any more. At least nobody who voted for you.

You have waited to long to speak up, and you still haven't taken a firm stand on anything.

What is your polsition, Cat food, the Grunt Bargin, save SS, reduce SS, tax the rich, tax the middle class, jobs, not jobs, what about that infrastructure thing, where are the shovels?
No sentient person can possibly keep up with your shifting stances (Remember universal health care. We do. Remember single payer, opt in, universal Medicare, save us from the corporate Health Care vampires who were bleeding us and Medicare dry? We do.) and no body could possibly be expected to bargin with you because you stand for nothing in particular.

You are the grand auctioneer holding the fire sale of the day. Your voters are broke and are sick of the deal making.

You are on your own now.

Thank God for Reid and especially Pelosi. They at least are willing to put their hands into the wounds to stop the bleeding. You are very careful to keep your cuffs clean and you shirt unsoiled.

Talking Points are not the same has healing words or acts for courageous intervention.

15. The President spend weeks conflating the debit ceiling
with the Cat Food Comission, SS, Medicare and athlete's foot.

He is the pot calling the kettle copper bottomed and anybody who has been listening knows that.

And if he doesn't realize that this then he is far more naive that I had ever thought, I would call that pathologically blind.

16. The American people don't want
COMPROMISE! Why is that so hard to understand? They want jobs, the corporations and billionaires to shoulder more of the burden, their children educated, clean air & water for starters. Fuck compromise.
