FBI offers $25,000 reward in case of missing NH girl

STEWARTSTOWN, N.H. — The FBI said Saturday it was offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to the whereabouts of an 11-year-old northern New Hampshire girl who has been missing for five days.

The reward would also cover information leading to the arrest and prosecution of anyone responsible for the disappearance of fifth-grader Celina Cass, Supervisory Special Agent Kieran Ramsey said at a news conference at the Stewartstown Community School.

“This reward should not be read into that we are transitioning in any way in this investigation,” Ramsey said, adding that recent, successful cases of recovered missing children have resulted in vigilance from the public.

“We are still aggressively — aggressively — searching and hoping to bring Celina Cass home,” he said.

1. What a sad case, I hope that people step up and help find her.
My husband's grandmother lived in Littleton for many years and it's gorgeous up there, but a lot of places to hide someone.

10. That was my thought.
What are the chances they would issue that kind of reward for a black girl?

14. do you know anything about the area?
do you know the population of this town? You do also realize that this is New England, and in general we don't have much of a population of black people, right? Yes, I know there is media bias on this, I do get that. Why must people come here and piss on a thread about every missing child? How many threads have you posted about missing black children, can you name one missing black child with out looking it up? I tend to post a missing child when it comes up in the news in my area. A child, is a child, regardless of race, and when they're missing we all need to keep our eyes out.

The 2009 Census estimate for Stewartstown was 94 residents, which ranked 188th among New Hampshire's incorporated cities and towns.

You think you have a safe life, but out of nowhere something like this can happen anywhere.

11. Why is it strange?
Are there elements that make it stranger than the usual missing child case?

I am asking in all seriousness. I am not being sarcastic or argumentative. (This place is so antsy and defensive these days. Maybe we all need to cut back on the caffeine.)

12. No, not that I know of.
It appears like another sadly run of the mill case. It could be a stranger abduction, but everyone in town will be looking at each other- and at the family and extended family.

13. You don't think a kid on a computer who suddenly disappears is odd?
Especially when there are no clues to indicate an intruder or that she ran away or anything else?

15. Yes that is strange.
Mysterious.

Also, it is tragic. I cannot imagine losing a child this way.
