Hotel housekeeper sues alleged attacker Dominique Strauss-Kahn

New York (CNN) -- Hotel housekeeper Nafissatou Diallo filed a civil lawsuit Monday against her alleged attacker Dominique Strauss-Kahn.

The former head of the International Monetary Fund stands indicted on charges that he sexually assaulted Diallo in his luxury New York City hotel suite in May.

The lawsuit asks for a jury trial to determine unspecified money damages for inflicting physical, emotional, and psychological harm, as well as damage to her personal and professional reputation.

"Ms. Diallo now brings this lawsuit to vindicate her rights, to assert her dignity as a woman, to hold Dominique Strauss-Kahn accountable for the violent and deplorable acts he committed ... to teach her young daughter that no man -- regardless of how much money, power and influence he may have -- should ever be allowed to violate her body, and to stand up for all women who have been raped ... but are too afraid to speak out," according to the complaint filed in the Bronx, New York.

1. This doesn't incline me to find her at all credible.
The criminal case has yet to come to trial; suing for civil damages prior to a criminal judgement being rendered in the case seems both precipitate and unseemly and makes her motives look mercenary. It also looks like desperate pre-emption in the event she's worried that he'll be acquitted in the criminal trial thus making it less likely she'll win damages in a later civil suit.

3. Seems to me that the prosecutor in this case has pretty much compromised the chance
of DSK ever having his day in court to face the charges.

He sure stated dragging his feet after initially going for broke.

11. You need to come up to speed on this one
I won't do it for you because you aren't paying attention or bought into his smear campaign of her, either way does not the truth make

13. I'm up to speed. The woman had physical evidence of abuse. The man also
has a reputation of the same kind of behavior.

The woman has some questionable associations and her story of being raped in her home country has been questioned.

The physical evidence is pretty convincing... unless you are suggesting that she had someone else cause the evidence after consensual sex with DSK?

They both have the right to a day in court. If the criminal courts will not act, then the civil courts will.

16. He was legally obligated to reveal what they had discovered about the accuser.

4. Criminal verdict doesn't necessarily matter.
The parents of OJ's wife sued after he was acquitted.

The importance of suing now is not so much to get money for her (despite what she's been told) as to make sure Strauss-Kahn won't be in France to start campaigning.

6. Oh, yes, "dirt like him".
I guess that includes anyone who has rumours spread about them. If you have some proof that he's done anything illegal - ever - please provide it.

7. Where there is smoke ....
there are two other women quite angry at Mr. Strauss-Kahn at his behavior towards him. Those are two that are willing to appear publicly. He also has a reputation for being sexually aggressive towards many women, despite his married state.

That seems to indicate a pattern.

9. Patterns are not evidence and are prejudicial.
Even if you proved DSK ate an omlette Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, you still have to independently prove he ate one on Saturday.

15. oh, bullshit.
I do have to prove that he ate an omelet on Saturday, yet I probably will be able to do so because the pattern of his behavior will tip me off to catch him in the act.

8. There is no evidence DSK did anything criminal
except for this woman's word which was found to be non-credible. She lied about every facet of what happened, got money from her drug dealer bf, was illegally in welfare-housing while working a job, had made up a rape story in her native country to get asylum.

So other than the fact that it is a woman accusing a rich and powerful man of rape what else makes it "good for her" in a non-misandrist world?

10. I believe there is a lot of evidence
his sperm on her dress, on draperies, on the carpet. Plus the all out smear of her that he instigated that you bought into. Either pay attention or go away :hi:

12. That is not evidence of rape
She could have given him a blowjob for a couple of bucks and then planted the semen.

The woman lied about everything and has zero credibility. She should be jailed for making false statements and deported pronto.

14. There may be evidence of some kind of sexual contact - there
is yet to be any evidence of rape, except from the accuser herself who, as previously noted has a very loose acquaintance with the truth.
