Breaking Journalists leave Rixos Hotel in Tripoli
Source: CNN

CNN's Chance just reported that all journalists that were being held in the Rixos hotel have left the hotel with the ICRC.

He reported that they were more concerned than previously reported because of the 'crazy' behavior of some of the gunman that were holding them in what he considered to be a 'hostage situation'.

In my experience the ICRC is among the most professional of international organizations, always unflappable and persistent, another big success for an agency that is always working under the radar.

1. That's good news.
When I heard about this yesterday, I wondered if maybe Gadhafi hadn't fled to that hotel with his henchmen and grabbed the journalists as bargaining chips.

I was worried about all of these people. Glad to hear they have been allowed to leave. Chance is a good journalist IMHO.

8. Foreign journalists freed from Tripoli hotel
Source: Raw Story

TRIPOLI (Reuters) - All the foreign journalists who were held in a Tripoli hotel for days by armed Gaddafi loyalists left it unharmed on Wednesday.

Representatives of the International Committee Red Cross came to the Rixos Hotel, arranged for them to leave and provided transport away from the hotel.

Some 35 foreign correspondents, including myself and two other Reuters journalists, and at least two foreign politicians had been trapped for five days in deteriorating conditions as food and water supplies ran low in the once-opulent hotel.

While opposition forces control large parts of Tripoli, fighting continued as forces loyal to Muammar Gaddafi bombarded areas in the center of the capital, including around the hotel.

The Rixos, just south of Tripoli city center, appeared to be one of the few parts of the city not under rebel control.

This was tweeted by @mchancecnn:

Crisis ended when #rixos gunmen realised that #Libya outside of hotel doors was no longer Libya of old. Handed us their guns & said "sorry."
