NOM speaker blames East Coast earthquake on gays
Posted on 08.24.11
By David Edwards

Within hours of an earthquake striking the eastern U.S. Tuesday, a rabbi that has spoken for the anti-gay group National Organization for Marriage (NOM) was already blaming homosexuals.

In a video posted to YouTube, Rabbi Yehuda Levin asserted that “one of the reasons God brings earthquakes to the world is because of the transgressions of homosexuality.”

“An email went out in my community just a few hours ago, ‘How long will it take Rabbi Levin to tie this earthquake in with homosexual marriage?’” he began. “Not very long at all. I’m happy to see that people — even if some of them are scoffers — are starting to see the connection.”

“Yes, there is a direct connection between earthquakes and homosexuality. There was in Haiti and it is here, in New York, in Washington, D.C., where they passed homosexual legislation ordinances, in New York City and state, where they opened, especially on Sunday early, where they passed the homosexual marriage law.”

44. If the imaginary entity in the sky hates gays....
then why doesn't he/she/it punish them? Seems far more heteros and churches were affected than gays or lesbians.

2. Who knew homosexuals were so powerful?
How does Rabbi Levin plan on stopping them from pissing God off? Legislation? LOL! That didn't stop the earthquakes before.

18. I remember a story from a history course
In the 17th and 18th century it was generally acknowledged that the fact that the town church was by far the most likely building to be hit by lightning and burn down had to be a response by God to the congregation's failings. Early in the 19th century they started putting lightning rods on the steeples of some churches and noticed that for some reason God quit burning those down.
And besides, I remember the old testament God being pretty good at smiting. Why would he kill bunches of god-fearing, bible-believing christians just to take out a few gays? If AIDS was sent by God to punish the gays, wasn't he clever enough to make it where an innocent child couldn't get it from a blood transfusion? Ignorance and fundamentalism is a dangerous combination, no matter what brand of religion is involved.

15. what in the world do gays have to do with tectonic plates moving?
not a got damb thing.

god doesn't bring anything against the world... The earth has a core of molten iron that is constantly in a state of motion. The crust of the earth floats on top of it. There are fissures in the crust and that's why the plates are in constant motion.

It has nothing to do with god or any figment of anyone's imagination.

there is no direct connection between homosexuality and any kind of natural disaster.

17. If he had done the slightest bit of study of earthquakes, he would know that
Edited on Wed Aug-24-11 01:01 PM by David Sky
there is an earthquake somewhere on the planet, almost every day of the year.

Often more than one!

This has been happening at this rate since before there were human beings on the planet.

But who needs scientific facts when a religion based upon ignorance, hate, and bigotry is involved?

30. Yes, deeply religious folks like us.... LOL who hate Obama and gays...
need to realize Satan is involved here, and has been ever since Obama was born and gays appeared out of nowhere in America, back in the 60's it all started in the 60's... Satan came to America because Obama and gays were here.

(People who read this I hope will understand!)

as a vegetarian, i, personally, could believe that this earthquake was caused by the kosher & halal orgy of cutting the throats of living animals and letting them bleed to death while hanging head down - and i would have the same probability of being correct, as this moron does.

39. The More Things Change, The More They Stay The Same...

In the year 342, the Christian emperors Constantius II and Constans declared the death penalty for a male who aped the role of a bride.<7> In the year 390, the Christian emperors Valentinian II, Theodosius I and Arcadius denounced males "acting the part of a woman", condemning those who were guilty of such acts to be publicly burned.<8>

The Christian emperor Justinian (527–565) made those who would now be called "homosexuals" a scape goat for problems such as "famines, earthquakes, and pestilences.
