Senate candidate Mike McCalister breaks Army rules, wears uniform to fundraiser
Source: St. Pete Times

Mike McCalister, a Republican U.S. Senate candidate, violated U.S. Army regulations by wearing his uniform to a political fundraiser — a move that further fuels the criticisms of veterans and service members who say he's misleading voters to seem like more of a soldier than he ever was.
-snip-
But his website and campaign speeches have been full of so many strong-sounding claims that he's now drawing fire from former subordinates, a high-ranking general at U.S. Special Operations Command in Tampa and the veterans group Stolen Valor. The group obtained photographs of McCalister wearing his ceremonial uniform at a Feb. 16 fundraiser, the Highland County Republican Party Lincoln Day Dinner.

"The retiree is not authorized to wear his uniform to political events," said U.S. Army spokesman Troy Rolan. He cited regulations that say current and former service members should only wear the uniform to ceremonial events, such as Memorial Day, and should not wear the outfit to political functions.

11. Easy peasy
You just slip out the back, Jack
Make a new plan, Stan
You don't need to be coy, Roy
Just get yourself free
Hop on the bus, Gus
You don't need to discuss much
Just drop off the key, Lee
And get yourself free

5. Doesn't Britain have the partly privatized high school system that is being pushed here in the USA?

6. The only place any reference to "school" was made in the article was this:
Shera researched McCalister's record and found he obtained the higher-education degree from a correspondence school.
It doesn't mention any "partly privatized high school system" at any point.

7. Always has been "private money" in primary and secondary education.
The biggest non governmental organization that runs schools in England that I can think of is the Church of England.

AFAIK, the C of E has been involved in providing education ever since the Victorian era when government made it that there would be education for all children.

Yes, the Church of England is a State Church.

As for other money, yes there is other for-profit and not-for-profit organization involvement in all aspects of the UK education system. It's the Academies that are being pushed and usually need private funds to get them going. This has been the most contentious development as of late, before that the Thatcher era brought in the opportunity for schools to opt out of local education authority control and decide what to do with their funds as they please and hire and fire their own staff.

As for what the Tories in control now will do, I don't know. So far it's been the same old, same old.

As for McAllister, he appears to be a serial liar and too dumb to realize he will be caught in his lies.
