Perry: No stimulus program if he’s president; pledges to ‘get America working again’
Source: Associated Press

TULSA, Okla. — Republican presidential hopeful Rick Perry said Monday that no new economic stimulus package is needed to “get America working again,” but he declined to give specifics about how his still-unannounced plan to jumpstart the nation’s economy would create jobs.

During an appearance at the Tulsa Press Club, Perry said he would let his “guiding principles” as a fiscal conservative inform his policies. But when pressed for details, Perry resorted to general statements he has often repeated on the campaign trail.

“No. 1 is don’t spend all the money, you can figure out what that means,” Perry said at the Tulsa Press Club event also attended by U.S. Sen. James Inhofe, R-Okla. “You won’t have stimulus programs under a Perry presidency. You won’t spend all the money.”

The Texas governor, the newest entry into the 2012 GOP presidential field having announced his candidacy just over two weeks ago, has yet to release a national economic plan.

1. He'll follow the failed Texas bait and switch....
Analysis reveals his Texas miracle is far from that...taking from the poor to give to the rich and enslaving the masses in minimum wage jobs..plus killing more people via the death penalty...gee what would Jesus say? I think he would be having some negative things to say rather than calling him to "serve" which we all know means to serve his corporate masters.

2. Right on Rick!
Let's get all those millions of outsourced jobs shipped back here to the good old U.S.A., where workers can also earn a whopping 75 cents an hour just like their counterparts in other countries. Guess we'll have to adjust the minimum wage a tad while we're at it. Hey, what the hell, it gets folks off unemployment, dunnit?

4. just saw the Rachel Maddow show
apparently texas has in their constitution that the budget must be balanced, even off of the backs of those who are suffering. It seems Perry a couple of years ago gave another business tax break to his friends which accrued 27 billion in debt-he used stimulus money to pay some of it. The guys something. And he calls social security a ponzi scheme? So, his cuts to his friends while upping the debt must be a "perry scheme."

Oh, and Perry, Social security is NOT a ponzi scheme, but giving your friends on wall street our money (privatizing SS) could be considered a scheme. Your little corporate friends have basically screwed most of our 401ks away and now they want it all.

27. Does That Mean Going Back To The Clinton Budget
Edited on Tue Aug-30-11 12:34 AM by DallasNE
It was in surplus. That would mean ending the Bush tax cuts and ending the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan as well as paying for Social Security Part D. Even then it wouldn't create a budget in surplus because of the job situation. That, unfortunately for Perry, means a stimulus package. Nothing else will come anywhere near getting the budget back to where is was under Clinton.

I've been studying him closely for a long while now and I can guarantee he is bad for America, American values, the economy, our standing in the world, and for the environment already in terrible shape. Stay away from him like the plague. No respect for this religious nut.

29. How? We need congress to levy compulsory taxes on everyone without favor to raise revenue to do
anything at all. How else can we get money to do anything
collectively? Or is that passe for Mr. Perry and he prefers a
feudal economy?

working again. Whiel details are still a closely-held secret, informed sources say that some of the plan's key components are to outlaw unions, jail their leaders and supporters and repeal minimum wage and child labor laws.
