Irene floods in North Carolina and New York 'disaster'
Source: BBC News

US President Barack Obama has officially declared the floods caused by Tropical Storm Irene in North Carolina and New York a disaster.

The move allows the two states to tap federal funds for relief efforts.

However, the declaration does not include Vermont, which suffered its worst flooding in decades.

2. I'm surrounded by the floods in NJ.
Less than 1-1/2 miles flood in Paterson.

Less than 6 miles away flood in Garfield.

Less than 7 miles away flood in Little Falls.

Saving grace is we're on a hill and not near any tributary.
