Cleveland Plain DealerFord and the United Auto Workers reached a tentative deal late Monday that would create 12,000 new jobs in the United States and require the automaker to invest $15 billion in plants and new vehicles.
The 12,000 figure is nearly double the 7,000 jobs Ford had said it would create in the next five years, and higher than the 10,000 jobs figure that had been rumored to be on the table during negotiations.
The larger the jobs number could be good for Northeast Ohio. Brook Park's Cleveland Engine Plant No. 2 is set to close as early as next year if it doesn't get a new product to build.

The UAW will be announcing later today where those jobs will go. More details on the contract, such as bonuses and worker wages, will come out later today.
