After 7 weeks, Occupy still going strong
Source: CBS

The economic protest movement that claims to represent 99-percent of Americans shows little sign of slowing down this weekend.

Stormy weather kept "Occupy Wall Street" demonstrations quiet in New York, but not in the rest of the country.

Correspondent Rick Sallinger of station KCNC in Denver reports that protesters in that city have occupied a park right in front of the state capitol.

"I want things to change in the Congress," said Michael Misenti, an Occupy Denver protester. "I want the President's jobs bill to pass."

4. The demo's had plenty of chances to shut down the Senate
and make the Republicans actually filibuster.

The jobs bill was another chance.

They just don't have it in them.

If they would have shut down the govt over the Bush tax cuts the deficit battle would have never happened.

5. No, the Senate rules cannot be changed now to require a 60's style filibuster.

7. If they can remain in NYC after Saturday's weather
They will be around until it's done!
They are not going anywhere, until things change.
When Spring comes around, you will see the numbers get huge.

11. We had snow this weekend in Boston, but not also bitter temperatures.
Other cities where the 99% movement is going on will get pretty cold this winter.

I sure hopt every DUer is somehow supporting this movement financially as much as they possibly can.

Pizza deliveries, whatever you can do.

12. It's going to affect those things anyway. Here's hoping for the better and not for the more
repressive.

13. Will the main center of power
Change from NYC to the South and West Coasts?

With winter closing in, I think a lot of smaller protests (in places like, say, Dayton Ohio) will disappear except for an online presence. I am wondering if teh same will happen in NYC. November through March in the Northeast is not very favorable to outdoor events.

LA and the sunbelt, however, will probable continue because the climate is more agreeable.

However, if the folks in warmer weather see the protests diminish in the North, will they give up too?
