Contractors in Iraq questioned about (Iraqi prisoner) abuse
http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/world/2543800

WASHINGTON -- A private military contractor acknowledged Friday that its employees had been questioned in connection with allegations that U.S. soldiers abused Iraqi prisoners at the U.S. military's main detention center in Iraq.

CACI International of Arlington, Va., said the employees had volunteered to be interviewed in a case in which six U.S. soldiers have been charged with sexually and physically abusing Iraqi prisoners at Abu Ghraib prison outside Baghdad.

<snip>

A lawyer for one of the accused soldiers said CACI employees had encouraged military police to "soften up" Iraqis for questioning.

2. It was on an earlier post
The way I understand it, one soldier had written his father about it.

11. WAR CRIMINAL LYNNDIE ENGLAND "HE'S GETTING HARD"
At the Article 32 Hearing (like a grand jury hearing) Specialist Matthew Wisdom, an M.P under
oath stated

Wisdom said:
SFC Snider grabbed my prisoner and threw him into a pile. . . . I do not think it was right
to put them in a pile. I saw SSG Frederic, SGT Davis and CPL Graner walking around the
pile hitting the prisoners. I remember SSG Frederick hitting one prisoner in the side of its
ribcage. The prisoner was no danger to SSG Frederick. . . . I left after that.
When he returned later, Wisdom testified:
I saw two naked detainees, one masturbating to another kneeling with its mouth open. I
thought I should just get out of there. I didn’’t think it was right . . . I saw SSG Frederick
walking towards me, and he said, ““““Look what these animals do when you leave them
alone for two seconds.”””” I heard PFC England shout out, ““““He’’’’s getting hard"

3. sounds rather grim
does it not?

What kind of people are these that we must share our world with?

I have such a dreadful time thinking that there are people walking this planet that have such horrible ideas on how to treat other living beings.

Yes, I know that "war is hell", but does our entire world have to become hell right along with it?

This period in time seems to have brought all of the darkness into power.

But barring the possibility that the photos and stories are fake, this is gross shit.

For it to happen is one thing. For pictures to be taken is another thing. For the brits to do it as well is yet another. For pictures of that as well ...

What kind of pea brained training would military personnel receive in order to think that kinda stuff is OK? I can imagine people stupid enough to not realize the repercussions - but for a military spokesperson to say that the perpetrators were not familiar with the Geneva Convention is absolutely and literally insane! It suggests that without the Geneva Convention, using real human beings for puppet shows which appeal to pre-pubescent senses of humor is acceptable.

6. I went over and read Free Rep yesterday and I got another shock
I thought this was pretty bad but they seem to think it was like college pranks( some seemed to think at 19 they would have done it) and CBS was wrong to post the pictures. I should have known they would see it in those ways, I guess, but I was still shocked. These 'Guns for hire" must be under congress. This is really a mess.It is tax payers money. That whole siege thing was about these "guns for hire" getting killed because they were where they should not have been.Great way to win the Middle East over.

8. so the war profiteers are still on the job
Edited on Sat May-01-04 06:09 AM by fishnfla
-While their victims are probabaly dead, or still in prison.
-While the US troops and officers they worked with are in the brig.
-While other US troops are now placed in greater risk and further harm's way by these acts
-While the reputation of the United States has been permanantly tarnished by these acts.

and these civilian employees get "questioned" ( "I'd like to know; how stupid can you be? Were your parents first cousins?") They are at risk for what, a lawsuit?

This company needs to be front page news too, they are just as culpable. And the US policy (Dumbsfeld) of hiring civilian agencies in war zones needs to be blowed up. Whoever hired these jokers is culpable too.

This whole incident hs ignited a firestorm across the world, every single person involved, not just the military needs to be hauled out and tied to a post.

10. Photos are real
The female in the photos has said that they were only engaging in fun pranks. I don't think Muslims are going to find these acts humorous. I don't see them as humorous at all! They are humiliations to the victems. From what I have read the photos shown are actually the least brutal.

What kink of sick Fu*c*r finds this kind of stuff funny? I sure don't think the pile of naked guys were laughing... I have had NO ONE ever tell me about the Geneva convention standards on treatment of prisoners (seeing that I am not in the military) and I know its morally WRONG! We have met the enemy and it is us!

13. Military MP's
got played like a fiddle. They were suppose to be the bad cops and the civilian CACI were suppose to be the good cops. I can hear about this not being actually declared a war and all that other BS that gets mass mentality doing what you want it to do. Trust me the civilians will say Not us, we didn't do it. However the military Dumbshits (I'm a veteran so don't start) should know they don't respond to an unethical or dangerous command or suggestion. Lots of people are going to die for this stupid behavior but those civilians will be going home.
