Christians opposing gay marriage to rally
35,000 people from across state expected at Safeco FieldBy CLAUDIA ROWE

A fleet of buses stands ready at the Cedar Park Assembly of God, a sprawling church complex in Bothell where a dozen volunteers spent hours this week carefully assembling 1,000 plastic displays with signs urging the like-minded to vote -- for faith, freedom and family, they say. For the future of the country.
The church group is small but enthusiastic -- Laurel Christiansen pressed her three children into service after their track and baseball practices -- and suggests the kind of dedication that could bring tens of thousands of Evangelical Christians to Safeco Field today for a massive rally protesting same-sex marriage.
Organizers of the "Mayday for Marriage" rally say that in just one month they have created a Web site, run 118 television ads and sent out 30,000 e-mail invitations. They expect as many as 35,000 Christians from around the state to attend, making Seattle the latest flashpoint in a growing national battle over the future of marriage rights for homosexuals.
