Schaffer wants to debate Coors
GOP hopeful seeks 10 face-offs

Former U.S. Rep. Bob Schaffer challenged Republican Senate rival Peter Coors on Thursday to two debates a week for the next five weeks.

At a candidates' forum on transportation issues sponsored by the Colorado Highway Users Conference, Schaffer said frequent debates would give Republican primary voters a chance to see which candidate has the better "level of preparation."

"That's a very nice offer," the business executive said, adding, "I want to know the conditions" of the debates.

"Who knows what the right number is?" Coors said about Schaffer's aggressive challenge for frequent face-to-face encounters.
