4 U.S. Soldiers Die in Accident in Iraq
BAGHDAD, Iraq - Four U.S. soldiers died after their Humvee rolled over during a combat patrol north of Baghdad, the U.S. military said Tuesday.

The soldiers, from the 1st Infantry Division, died from injuries sustained when their vehicle rolled over Monday night during a patrol near Khalis, some 40 miles northeast of Baghdad, the military said in a statement.

2. Yeah right. An "accident".
4 soldiers, patrolling an urban area in a freaking HUMMER for chrissake, rolled it over? And 4 died? Y'all realize how hard it is to roll a Hummer? Maybe if they drove off the edge of a berm or something. Or perhaps if they were driving about 80 and took a hard left, but why would they be doing that unless they were in a combat situation? Yep, ok. An accident.

3. Had the same thought...

I guess "accident" has been reclassified to mean the RPG didn't actually hit the vehicle, just forced it into some maneuver that caused it to roll over.

Also on Saturday, a U.S. Army soldier was killed and two
others were injured when their Abrams tank rolled over
in northern Baghdad. The military did not say whether the
rollover occurred during combat, and did not specify the
soldiers' unit. The names of the dead troops were
withheld pending notification of families.

4. They used to say there would be an investigation
...and then never disclose the results. Now they don't even bother. They just lie without any pretense.

Navy: Seven sailors from Jacksonville unit killed in Iraq

Associated Press

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Seven sailors assigned to a construction battalion based at Jacksonville
Naval Air Station have been killed in two separate attacks in Iraq, the Navy confirmed Tuesday.

On Sunday, at Camp Fallujah in the Al Anbar province near Ramadi, three sailors assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 14, were killed when a mortar landed in their compound. Two other Seabees later died of their wounds. In addition, there was an Army soldier killed in the same attack, according to Miriam Lareau, a Navy spokeswoman.

The names of the victims were being held pending notification of their relatives.

The attack Sunday came as dozens of Seabees were being gathered in the yard of a Marine base for a visit from Rear Adm. Charles Kubic, according to The Miami Herald. One mortar struck about 300 yards away but the second made a near direct hit, killing some sailors on the spot and spewing shrapnel around the yard.

RIP :cry:

Tears for all who have paid the ultimate price for the BFEE.

8. This is all so sickening.
We are talking about American soldiers and nobody gives a damn! I try to tell people who I know about the deaths and they just shrug it off, or they shake their heads and say "it's so terrible" - then tell a joke or something! I have often stated that I support the Iraqi resistance - I do, but I do not accept US soldiers' deaths! We have got to DO something. I will vote for Kerry in Nov., but Jesusgod, he does his best to out 'PNAC' Bush at every turn. He had better be lying - lying to the idiotic bastards out there who actually enjoy the US being the new NAzi Reich, because if he really is going to "stay the course" as he claims, then we should just give it up and leave this cesspool to the corporations.

10. The first mutiny by UStroops- Lt Gen James Conway
There will be more.

We're stealing cigs and food from returning citizens.

Saleh has been replaced by a stooge.

Falloojah is not over.

There is a corollary to this latter point: if you do keep up
the hammering, over and over, strange things begin to
happen; new material comes to light; you find a passion
within yourself, as a reporter, that you didn't know you had;
you throw emotional caution to the wind; you begin to see
the grotesque and cartoonesque aspect of the defenders of
the realm; your bullshit detector extends its sensors
and becomes more refined; you watch facades of lunacy
and lies collapse under the weight of your sustained attacks;
you realize how sold out the liars really are; you develop
closing skills and an instinct for the jugular; you find
yourself laughing in people's faces; you attain
precognition vis-a-vis the lies the liars haven't even told yet;
you can predict strategies the PR operators are going to
employ; fools try not to talk to you.

11. Coalition and contractors drive real fast to avoid being hit
I've heard that they drive extremely fast when not in a convoy as a defensive maneuver to not be hit by bullets or rockets. Consequently, a lot are dying in accidents.

The net effect is the same - dead soldiers. Essentially they are KIA but technically they are accidents.
