Bush honors Super Bowl champ Patriots
New England back at White House for 2nd time in 3 years

WASHINGTON - President Bush is getting to enjoy his White House meetings with the New England Patriots.

“Congratulations for getting back here to the Rose Garden,” Bush told the team Monday. “My hope, of course, is that I’m back here again to see you next year.”

In February, New England won its second Super Bowl in three years, beating Carolina 32-29 on Adam Vinatieri’s 41-yard field goal with four seconds left. Two years before, Vinatieri kicked the winner as time expired in New England’s 20-17 win over the St. Louis Rams to give the Patriots their first championship.

“I appreciate the dramatic comebacks that you are capable of making,” Bush said. “I like it when a kicker ends up winning the game. ... I know Adam is with us today. I am really impressed at how cool you are under fire.”

I'm glad to see * has his priorities in order. It appears he spent today admiring
torture photos, smoozing, and sniffing jocks.

6. In prepared remarks...
...the President said he had no knowledge of the Patriots' victory in January until Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld showed him pictures of the Super Bowl last week.

7. But MSNBC didn't complete what happened
Keith Olbermann just showed what he said afterwards. I TIVOed it so I will post it here.

“I like it when a kicker ends up winning the game. ... I know Adam is with us today. I am really impressed at how cool you are under fire.”
And uh...how...look I need a few suggestions before a press conference if you don't mind.

The man did not know WHAT TO SAY! He is losing whatever he had left in his little pea-sized brain quickly.

10. I saw that on Olbermann ! The *dipstick* cannot talk off the cuff
Cripes it was a fucking football team and he ran out fucking bullshit to say about their win, but in typical fashion he accepted NO responsibility for being clueless and speechless, and instead went into a spoiled rant about someone not feeding him enough canned lines.

This guy is so petty. Matched only by his fucking cluelessness.

9. Go Pats!!!
Edited on Mon May-10-04 11:03 PM by RummyTheDummy
I saw that as well. The Chimp's tongue was tied. Imagine that. In his defense, he was in the presence of greatness. Maybe being in the same spot as Tom Brady and Bill Belichick (who incidentally is a Dem) was just too much for him :)

As a Pats fan the visit is a little awkward doesn't make me happy, but hey, that's a small price to pay for winning a SB.

11. Two of my least favorite things in one room
Shrub and the Patriots.

I will say this. The reason I dislike the Pats so much is because they do their jobs too well -- which often involves beating the crap out of my team. Chimpy on the other hand, no one would ever criticize him for being too effective.

Hopefully my Bills are waiting to win one so that they can visit a President Kerry instead of this dope.

12. I'm with you abernste...
Lifelong Bills fan here and it sickens me to see the Pats make a return trip.

I wonder if Tommy Boy enjoyed this trip to see his buddy Smirk Dipshit as much as that disgraceful SOTU address appearance. Fuck him, fuck the Pats and fuck that stuttering, mumble-mouthed, coked-up dipshit!

14. As a loyal Bills fan...
I've never really "hated" the Patriots - though, the WH visit makes me want to :puke:! Next to the Bills, the Pats are waaaaay less annoying that the friggin' Jets and the much despised Dolphins.

Fine, New England's been handing our asses to us the past few years but history between the teams have shown, Buffalo also enjoys long stretches of kicking Patriot ass in return. I'll give the Patriots this, at least they're classy about winning, unlike Ugly-America's team, the Dallas Cowboys.
