Arroyo likely to win Philippine elections: exit polls

MANILA : Two exit polls in the Philippine elections on Monday showed that President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo is likely to stay in power for a six-year term.

At least 21 people were reported killed Monday in election-related violence, taking the campaign death toll to 114. There were widespread reports of vote-buying, intimidation and voter registration problems.

One of the main complaints was that election officials were slow to deliver voting materials to 300,000 polling stations. Three remote towns were unable to vote at all.
-snip-
AFP reporters witnessed vote-buying, names missing from voter lists and missing ballot boxes, while local media reported intimidation and violence.
