Clinton gives 900-page memoir to editors
WASHINGTON -- President Bill Clinton has finished writing his memoirs and has submitted the completed manuscript to editors. The book's cover was sent to retailers Tuesday as the publisher begins taking orders for the expected best seller.

The book, "My Life," will run an estimated 900 pages and is due out in late June. The former president received a reported $10 million to $12 million advance, and the book has a first print run of 1.5 million copies.

"He finished late last week and right now we're completing the editing process," said Paul Bogaards, vice president of publisher Alfred A. Knopf. Knopf said the book reveals all of Clinton's "talents and contradictions."

Clinton is expected to begin recording the audio version of "My Life" next week. The abridged audio version is seven hours long, on six compact discs. The audio book will have a retail price of $35, as will the hardcover.

my edition has 1026. It's really not that thick. About the size of what people USED to read!

8. My guess is
Edited on Tue May-11-04 02:03 PM by Book Lover
that it's probably 900 manuscript pages; the final book length can be played into whatever is best for the market (a yummy, fat book). If he just submitted the final MS at the end of last week and the book itself is due in late June, there is no way this thing can be given a decent copy edit, even if (especially if!) there is a team of CEs working on it. Prepare yourselves for occasional misspellings (there for their)and poor grammar.

Despite my misgivings, though, I am way looking forward to this read.

29. Clinton may have caught many of those himself ...
With his academic training, I'd suspect he is pretty good about proofreading.

34. In publishing, you
always have a second set of eyes to review any manuscript. Since he worked on it for so long (and, unlike other politicos, I feel safe saying Bill wrote all of his book), there are bound to be errors he won't catch. It's inevitable.

Edited on Tue May-11-04 08:32 PM by PaDUer
I doubt it..He knows how to read, write, spell, and speak..unlike the "bring 'em on'er" who could care less about the people but only of himself, mommy, oil, greed, drugs, and other illegal and unethical things.

Just thinks of the great pix that will be in the book. How I wish he was still our president.

13. Clinton won't have to go on a talk show to give it away like Hanity
I'll bet the freeps are trying to give it bad reviews already at Amazon. I remember hearing Hanity say that the liberals were giving his book bad reviews and he asked his listeners to go to Amazon and give it some positive reviews.

25. Check out the AP dig at Clinton at the end of the article!
Historians expect that the former president's book will seek to defend Clinton's record and preserve the future political viability of his wife...

Defend? He will be touting his record! Who are these unnamed "historians" that see Clinton's book as a "defense" of his record?

The AP can always be counted on for Fair and Balanced reporting. :)
