Many Democrats (6/10) Are Unhappy With Party
The Associated Press

Six in 10 Democrats are dissatisfied with the party's performance on core issues such as helping the poor and aiding the average worker, according to a poll that also found Democrats noticing the presidential candidate who often rails against Washington Howard Dean.

Just 38 percent of Democrats said their party is doing an excellent or good job in protecting the interests of minorities, aiding the needy and representing working Americans, down from 47 percent in May 2001, according to the poll by the Pew Research Center for the People & the Press released Thursday.

This Democratic frustration is even more pronounced among liberals, with only 31 percent saying the party is doing an excellent or good job on traditional issues. By contrast, 57 percent of Republicans gave their party high marks on issues such as cutting taxes and pushing social issues important to conservatives. ---

2. further down in this article
There is mention of Bush's dropping approval ratings as well.
Over at Lucianne, they're happy as all git-out that Dems are unhappy -- not realizing, of course, that we're unhappy because the candidates are Democratic enough. We don't want them to be more like Republicans, which is how they're interpreting it.

6. the 38%
are probably the same kind of thought police who badger everyone here over "dem-bashing" and would be terrified to ever say there is anything wrong with the party whatsover even to an anonymous pollster since it might be Karl Rove on the other end of the line :eyes:

7. Since the Dems are in the minority in both houses, what did you expect?
The Democrats don't have the votes to pass legislation in Congress. They don't have the votes to investigate the White House. They don't have the votes PERIOD.

Sorry, but it doesn't matter how loud the Democrats scream, the votes aren't there. And the press wouldn't cover them anyway.

Here's a thought -- why not get angry at the Republicans for a change?

8. this is one time when you might be yelling at the wrong people.
as much as you counter that DU does NOT represent the democratic party (true) - and that our opinions are NOT reflective... this is about a poll of Democrats. Not DUers. Joe-blow democrat. They are the unhappy ones.

I don't think lecturing Democratic voters in general will be any more effective than lecturing DUers.

Perhaps the thing to do - is start strategizing on HOW to turn this tide. These numbers would lead to yet another election with suppressed voter turnout and that hurts our candidates.

13. AND be the ones that COUNT the votes
With so-called DEMs like Lieberman and the quite a few
other Bush enablers in the Democratic Party ---

thats what make Democrats pissed off at their elected DEMs
in Congress.

YES we know the DEMs are not in control, BUT where has been
the OPPOSITION to the Bush Regime ?

Yes a few do stand up to Bush. In fact quite a few. But the
problem is ZERO leadership positions to enhance the
OPPOSITION TO BUSH.

Where were the real Senate Democrats when the Black Congressional
Caucus needed just ONE Senator to be able to speak out ?
Why did the so-called DEMs in Congress rollover to this
illegitimate Bush Regime ?

With DEMs like Lieberman, who needs to remove his head from
Bush's arse, and then there's Gepthard who lavished praise to
this court appointed oil stooge Mr Bush after selection 2000.

Just who need enemies ?
