Connecticut Republican Governor Subpoenaed

HARTFORD, Conn. - Gov. John G. Rowland will be subpoenaed to testify before the legislative committee investigating whether he should be impeached, the panel Republican co-chairman announced Tuesday.

Last week, the House panel's special counsel, Steven Reich, said the committee would probably send an invitation to Rowland, and would issue a subpoena only if the governor declined that invitation.

But its best to drag this one out just as long as possible. Rowland's a dead duck - you let him twist in the wind and he'll bring down the entire state Republican Party. Impeach him quickly, and they'll have a chance to recover.
