Amid warnings of more violence, the president plans a speech to the nation Monday to spell out his strategy for turning over control of Iraq.

BATON ROUGE, La. - President Bush will outline a "clear strategy" for Iraq in a major speech Monday night, White House aides said Friday, even as top U.S. generals warned Congress that Bush's plan to transfer power to Iraqis by June 30 is likely to spawn more violence.

Bush's speech Monday at 7 p.m. CDT at the U.S. Army War College in Carlisle, Pa., is designed to reassure Americans about the war and the hand-off of partial sovereignty to Iraqis on June 30. Bad news from Iraq has helped drive Bush's popularity and job-approval ratings to the lowest point in his presidency and threatens his bid for re-election.

As of Friday afternoon, administration officials hadn't asked the television networks to carry the speech live, but the White House is clearly hoping for a major television audience.

---snip----

The president, a self-confessed C-student at college, also offered words of wisdom on family, moral values and honor to the graduating class of 3,162 students.

"Let me begin with a very valuable lesson I've learned -- a lesson that has influenced my well-being -- and here it is: Listen to your mother," Bush said, to laughter. "My mom has a way of speaking her mind. When I paid attention, I benefited. When I didn't, I paid the price. That's how it still works."

so did your MAMA tell you what to do about Iraq? Silly me and here I was thinking CHENEY was telling you what to do all along....

1. I don't think "Mama"
did such a good job raising her young'uns. They all seem to be lacking in empathy among other things.

2. And he will say anything but the simple truth, which is...
... that the plan is to rule the Middle East from Iraq with absolute military power, and to make Iraq a privatizer's wet dream.

Methinks Dubya has listened to his mother a bit too much....

3. I thin k Barbara has a failed President in her back ground also.
Maybe it is a gene thing? No empathy, longing for power and one term Presidents. It is interesting that this week it is hear Mother, when he is down in polls and he does not hear his father, but only God when he is up in polls! Does that mean anything?

4. He minded his Mom.
She said that she didn't wish to mess up her beautiful mind looking at cofins coming back from his wars.

Moma Bush is ugly inside and out. So is he.

5. So let me get this straight...
...The advice chain is

God->Dick->Babs->W?
God->Babs->Dick->W?
Dick->Babs->W?
Dick->God->Babs->W?

I may be confused...Either it is one of the above or Babs and Uncle Dick play Rock, Paper, Scissors to decide who gets their hand up W's rear end...

7. Oooo....I can't wait
for this lying monumental screw-up account of incompetence. And then watch the press hail his eloquence and effectiveness because he makes three veiled references to the gospels, four to crusades for freedom and eight mentions of war on terra and does not fall down.

15. This better not preempt the rerun of the Simpsons
or Friends or Seinfeld or King of Queens or ... I don't know: the Weather Channel (I love Marnie).

10. What kind of dipshit devises his strategy more than a year after the fact?
Is Bush trying to appear more incompetent than he actually is?
