Al-Qaida said almost ready to attack U.S., Ashcroft says
http://www.wvec.com/news/topstories/stories/wvec_top_stories_052604_al_qaida_threat.1fd91da92.html

Associated Press

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The United States has credible intelligence from multiple sources that al-Qaida is determined to launch an attack in the United States in the coming months that could be linked to events such as an upcoming international economic summit and the summer political conventions, Attorney General John Ashcroft said Wednesday.

Ashcroft said the intelligence, coupled with recent public statements attributed to al-Qaida, "suggest that it is almost ready to attack the United States." The withdrawal of Spanish troops from Iraq due to the political repercussions of the March 11 train bombings in Spain, Ashcroft added, could lead al-Qaida to attempt to influence U.S. politics.

"Al-Qaida may perceive that a large-scale attack in the United States this summer or fall could lead to similar consequences," Ashcroft said in remarks prepared for a news conference.

The intelligence does not contain specifics such as timing, method or place of an attack. But officials say it is highly credible and backed with greater corroboration than usual, including information that operatives may already be in the United States.

8. From watching it
it was not the usual PR stunt, they gave way too many specifics
which they never before have done.

Now they are back to usual pattern, they have yet to tell me in any
of these briefs, what is a suspicious activity?

Leaving a packet at a mall, public transportaion et al? Is that
suspicious? Yes, but they have yet to tell us this... and this is
when you call your bomb squad.

Suspicious, having somebody who is not from the area buy 10000 pounds of cow manure... that is suspicious

I could go on, they have yet to do any of that

Some of the things he has covered such as recruitment by AQ of converts to Islam... EX{ERTS have been saying this for over two years, first time this apears in ANY news conference...

I could go on

This has the feel that this MAY BE the real deal though...

9. I agree that this is the usual noice coming from Asscroft everytime
the robotic administration is in trouble. But then again, I can imagine that we've pissed them off so bad that they will try something sometime. It's almost inevitable. They hate us more than they ever have. And there's a hell of a lot more of them now.

But we can't live in fear, which is what the bush* cabal wants. They figure the more fear they can keep us in, the more secure they are in their little places of power. But hell, we're all gonna die sometime. You can't let every minute of your life be spent worrying about this crap. Although they sure would like us to.
