WASHINGTON, May 26 (Xinhuanet) -- US Commerce Secretary Donald Evans said on Wednesday that the government is considering removing environmental requirements for a multitude of gasoline blends as one way to increase supplies of gasoline and fight soaring prices.

The gasoline price in the United States hit a record nationwideaverage of 2.06 dollars per gallon this week and was already having an impact on driving habits, with people making fewer tripsto the store.

2. Why not reduce gasoline supplies, instead?
Even Richard Nixon, during the energy crisis, as I recall, imposed energy policies to reduce our reliance on fuel. All office buildings had to reduce their thermostat to 68 degrees in the winter. Daylight savings was extended (or withheld, I forget which), giving farmers an extra hour or daylight to get their work done.

Why not teach people to consume less than more?

If Richard Shithouse Nixon could impose fairly simple energy saving ideas, why can't what's his name we have in the White House now?
