The bodies of three children, one of them decapitated and the others partially decapitated, were discovered late today in a Northwest Baltimore apartment building, police said.

A man was being questioned by homicide detectives, but had not been charged as of early evening. Police said they believe there was some type of dispute between the man and other adults in the families, but they are not sure of the nature of the dispute or when it occurred.

The children, two boys and one girl, were aged 6-10, police said.

"This appears to be an isolated incident and there's no reason for the community to be upset, other than what happened here," said Deputy Commissioner Kenneth Blackwell.

1. No reason to be upset? Dear lord!
My first thought was serial killer. But a family dispute?! What kind of sickos are we breeding? Gotta be something in the food.

My heart goes out to the family.

20. I suspect drug/money laundering gangs involved in some way
Riggs Bank? Citigroup? They both make lots of money from drug dealing and money laundering, right in Baltimore.

2. And our troops do this every day in Afghanistan and Iraq. Policy, y'know.
Damn I'm cynical and pissed. Every child's death is a tragedy and I can't help coming back to the thousands killed 'in the war on terror' as US policy.

And why is it we shouldn't use the words 'baby killer'? Is there a euphemism like maybe 'tragic consequence of letting Uncle Sam tell you who to kill?'

Fuck, bring our troops home and give them the care they need to recover from this debacle. Fuck.

3. Decapitation is the new trend . . .
We went for years without decapitations, and now Pearl, Berg, and this one.

What the hell is going on?

4. Kill Bill volumes 1 to 27?
For most of the last century, a beheading was seen as a barbaric and
uncivilised thing that only "those foreigners" would do. These days
it's a perfectly ordinary way for a person to express their violent
tendencies and has featured in a lot of home entertainment.

Doubt there's any connection though ... :eyes:

9. Speaking of gruesome...
I woke up to this story this morning, which took place barely a mile from my apartment:

Police in North Buffalo are looking into a baby death.
Buffalo Police responded to a call that an eight month old baby had stopped breathing. Eyewitnesses tell 7 News they saw a woman holding an infant outside an apartment building on Kenmore Avenue. The woman was apparently screaming and bashing the baby's head into the concrete.

2 arrests made in slayings of 3 children
Motive unclear; Victims ages 9 and 10 identified; Police describe 'gruesome' scene in N.W. Baltimore

City police have made two arrests in the gruesome slayings of three young children whose bodies -- one decapitated, two partially beheaded -- were found in an apartment in a quiet Northwest Baltimore neighborhood yesterday, authorities said.

Police identified the suspects in custody as Adan Espinosa Canela, 17, and Policarpio Espinosa, 22. Last-known addresses for the men were not immediately available, and it was unclear what kind of relationship the suspects had, if any, with the victims or their families.

Detectives had been questioning a man about the murders, but it was not immediately clear if he was one of the suspects in custody.

Police today also identified the children as two boys: 9-year-old Ricardo A. Espinosa and 9-year-old Lucero Quesada; and 10-year-old Alexis Quesada, a girl. Police earlier identified the victims as two girls and a boy, but said this morning that they had made a mistake.

14. My Girlfriend is Renovating a House at Hilton St. and North Ave.
(see map below). I just delievered an old stove there last night. It's probably a lot worse location than the area of the murders. There are drug dealers flagging motorists down on every corner and probably lots of street crime. This is very unsettling, especially since the neighborhood of the murder is not that bad by comparison. Those poor kids -- and I can't imagine going through this as a parent.
