Kerry: Bush 'made America less safe'
http://www.cnn.com/2004/ALLPOLITICS/05/27/kerry.security/

SEATTLE, Washington -- Sen. John Kerry outlined his plan to improve national security on Thursday, saying President Bush has "made America less safe than it should be in a dangerous world."

The presumptive Democratic presidential nominee told an audience in Seattle that the Bush administration has "undermined the legacy of generations of American leadership" by using force before diplomacy was exhausted.

Kerry said that the Bush administration ignored the lesson of former President Theodore Roosevelt, who said that America should "walk softly and carry a big stick."

"That is precisely what this administration has ignored. They looked to force before exhausting diplomacy. They bullied when they should have persuaded. They've gone it alone when they should have assembled a whole team. They have hoped for the best when they should have prepared for the worst. They've made America less safe than it should be in a dangerous world," Kerry said.

1. I very much doubt that Kerry is going to succeed on...
the fourth precept of that plan.

And why should America "lead", anyway?

2. What is so hard about the fourth precept?
Of getting rid of Americas dependence on the Middle East. You just double the gas mileage of all vehicles, and then you cut crude oil use in half. He might piss off a lot of republicans, but it's nothing that other president's haven't done before.

3. Carter didn't seem to have an easy time of it...

4. Kerry is WRONG about "leadership"
"they should have assembled a whole team."
Does this jackass read the news?
IRAQ is a fucking failure and having some stupid team would not change the fact that it is UNCONSTITUTIONAL AND flat out WRONG.

5. That's an excellent point...
it desn't matter how many nations are behind war crimes, they're still war crimes...

7. Um, the team comes after inspections exhausted and diplomacy exhausted
So therefore, no need for team, because the inspectors would have found there were no WMDs, so therfore no invasion. . .so therefore no team!

6. ah, but when no "team" materialized
there would have been no "invasion"

So that is not "wrong" - that just showed how pigheaded the chickenhawks were.

8. No Arab interests represented
nevermind any semblance of international participation.
Cut it out. Kerry's right here. It's a world community after all.

11. Just awesome.
I AM SO HAPPY TO HEAR THIS FROM KERRY. It's been a long time coming, and the Republicans are hitting back as expected- Kerry is "playing politics with the war on terror"- but just watch: This will greatly increase Kerry's lead over Bush. BUSH IS DONE.

This is great. He just clinched it.

He's going to win.
